question about the p-ups in the 2077

the ibanez site says the 2077 is equipped with dimarzio blaze II p-ups and I think, even though they sound better than anything I've heard before, that the sound could be pushed even further since these sound A BIT dull

what do you think, could I do better than blazes to boost up the sound, make it sound more lively/hot?

paul gilbert

dimarzio should really make new 7string pickups. a BREED bridge 7 would be nice in basswood guitars and... a FRED 7! dying to have that thing!

That's what DiMarzio Tech Support tell about the stock pickups (used in RG7620/7621/1077XL/2077XL):

"The Evolution 7 is pretty similar to the bridge pickup, but none of the regular models are very close to the neck pickup. The Air Norton 7 would be the closest."

I hope this helps to end the discussion about DiMarzio (New/Custom)7s being Blazes.

Do it and let me know their answer.

Maybe I didn't do a proper research on this topic but I can't remember anyone posting some kind of "official" DiMarzio statement about htese pickups.
But if somebody got a different statement from them, please let me know.
