Question about a "Pre" USA custom - Possibly?

I have a guitar - and after having for a while - and really liking the USA custom's (up til now I've had 4 - possibly 5 if this one is actually a "USA Custom") - and have sold down to two - this one in particular I don't think I'll let go - as its really cool. In looking into info on these - most things point to '89 as the earliest - so I'm wondering if this is some one off artist guitar or something. Its a single humbucker, single volume - doesn't have a USA neck plate - but a MIJ plate with a stamped serial (no serial on the neck) - the graphic is a cobra on a white background - with a Pamalina signature with an '88 date on the graphic. Just a standard RG maple neck with black headstock and dots - so nothing super fancy (and only change I did to it to make it playable for me was put in an EMG 89 - and the coil tap on the volume control) - its been my main drop D guitar since I've got it (and have to keep multiple guitars for different tunings with the locking systems) - but after seeing another thread about someone who took off their neck to see the writing under it (as thats one thing I've never done - as its always been in rotation) - and I probably should do.

So after the long winded lead up and description - is this possibly a "PRE" USA custom - or just some one off that came from somewhere else. When were the earliest start of the USA customs made? Did they start right around when the RG's really got rocking in 87-88? I can post a pic of it if anyone is interested.

Thanks

Fire up a pic if you can. I was looking at one of those today on photobucket but that one had an IBZ humbucker in it, maybe it's your guitar before the pickup change???

I think "Pamelina 88" written on it might have given it away.......LOL!
