Question about setting up intonation with Edge tool...
Hi guys, I had posted a month or so back about how I aquired a late 80's RG550 and how I was going to fix it up. Well I installed all new pickups, set up the floyd yadda yadda.
The guitar sounds great, but after tuning, certain chords are out of tune in different places. Is it safe to say that the intonation needs to be adjusted, as well as the neck relief??
If so, I'm ready to do the intonation, but ran into a problem. I aquired an Edge intonation tool from Rich to use on the guitar. I'm a bit confused though, here's why: When I install the tool, it presses down on the allen bolt under the fine tuners (bolt that opens and closes saddles), making the note sharp. Is it intentionally done like this?? I ask, because I'm not sure if the intonation will be accurate if the note is a bit sharp from this. I am tuned to standard D if that matters at all.
Lastly, is it better to do the intonation before the neck relief?? Or vice versa??
