Question about the SV5470's tremolo system

Quick question about about the SV5470's tremolo system, and please consider the following:

1) I hate floating trems
2) Have little experience/understanding about them

That being said I have a Fender Strat with a "standard" old-style trem. My guitar shop basically made the trem "non-floating" by having the trem rest on the body. What this means is that I can bend notes flat (dive bomb) but I can NOT pull up on the trem to make notes sharp...and I can rest my hand on the bridge without notes going sharp.

Does the SV5470 or any of the SV guitars allow for this type of configuration?

Thanks!

- Tony

Re: Question about the SV5470's tremolo system

There's a "bolt" in the trem cavity you can screw against the trem block to prevent pull up. You can add as much spring tension to it as you want to keep bent double stops in tune. Or, you can use it free floating. All depends on how it's setup.

The way it comes set up from the factory I believe actually prevents "fluttering" which as you may know and/or guess from the name involves pulling up, so right away you can immediately start playing

Re: Question about the SV5470's tremolo system

I should clarify that the pull up range is basically vibrato only. About a half step.

Sorry, should have clarified...I hate the guitars that I've played that have floating trems. What I should have said is that I don't own any guitars with floating trems and the ones that I've played are far less stable than a fixed bridge and a pain in the ass to set up.

So to clarify, my limited experience with Floyd Rose trem systems while not extensive, leads me to conclude that they are not for me.

Rich do you perform this type of setup on the Ibanez's you sell?

I wish you could do setups on gear not bought from you. I would love to have my 1000 setup by you.

Re: Question about the SV5470's tremolo system

I keep the spring tension on my SV rather stiff. Resting my palm on it doesn't affect it at all. It takes quite a bit of force to dive or pull up. Much like my strats. I don't use the trem for drastic dives, I developed a "bend-technique" for that. I use the trem for just that..."tremolo".
The trem on the SV was the reason I chose it over the S series.
