Question concerning rg2550

Howdy mates!

I'm getting a '04 RG2550 and here's few questions about it:

It has no Team J-Craft stamp on the back of the neck (my 2570 had one), but this is quite normal, if I have read correctly?

The neck doesn't have walnut/bubinga-stripes.. I thought every prestige RG's had those?

Fretmarkers are some kind of smoked mirror dots and I have seen some pics with sharktooth inlays.. Is this the case with all 2004 2550's?

...And after digging a while, I think it's a 2550EX, which seems to have those dots and 3 piece maple neck.

How very refreshing to see someone doing their own research!!! Kudos to you Frost!!!

BTW... I thought the 2550 was released in '05. Now I've learned something new!!! cool!!!!

Re: Question concerning rg2550

Yeah, ibanez wikia page says it was released in '03: http://ibanez.wikia.com/wiki/RG2550EX

For a while I was concerned what I was going to get, as I did some comparising between 2550e and the one I am getting and the guitar in this case didn't look like 2550e that I found on google.. But then I found out about 2550EX. Nice. I like fretmarker dots more than sharktooth.

Oh and the neck is thinner than my earlier 2570's! (Wizard prestige vs. Super wizard prestige) I should get it tomorrow.. At least I hope so.

Looks like you're getting a sweet guitar, enjoy it. Post pics when it comes in.

Re: Question concerning rg2550

I've got one of these and love it. They don't really show up for sale very often.

I think the original smoked mirror pickguard was awful and contrasted badly with the blue so I switched it out to a pearl white Jem pickguard. I believe the first year or two of the RG2550 were the blue, and then they switched to Galaxy Black with the small dot inlay in 2005(which I also have one of). I think the neck is thinner and profile is flatter on the blue one then on my Black 2005. But that might just be normal tolerances.

Honestly, I wish Ibanez would go back to using the dot inlay as I don't think the ghost sharkies are very flattering.
