Question to the Fender guys

I know there are a couple of Fender enthusiasts in this board so I thought I'd ask for opinions on a guitar I might be getting quite soon:

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v1...view=slideshow

It's supposed to be a Fender 50 Anniversary Custom Shop Stratocaster '54.
The guy who is selling it is leting it go at quite a good price and Im trying to figure out if there's a catch to it.

Im not a Fender expert at all so any info you guys can throw at me about these models is very much appreciated.

Did they come with any kind of certficate?
Does it look to you like the real deal? Ive heard there are quite a lot of custom shop fender cons going around and I dont want to buy a dud....

THX for the help

Fred

Re: Question to the Fender guys

I guess I"ll start it off...
From what I have seen the guitar is supposed to have a vintage style bridge. The guitar in your photos have the newer style fulcrum type bridge.
And yes there should be tons of paper work that came with it.

Re: Question to the Fender guys

That's no "Fender 50 Anniversary Custom Shop Stratocaster '54" for sure. To begin with it would have 21 frets, not 22. And a different bridge like jmcdonaldva1 pointed out.

Ask for more pictures, especially of headstock, back of headstock and back of neck joint (the plate) in order to better determine exactly what kind of strat it is.

Re: Question to the Fender guys

Probably a 50th Anniversary American Series (which does have the 2-post trem and 22 frets) but, as has been said, not a 50th Custom Shop.
