Question regarding the buzz of different pickups

Hi, I have an Ibanez rg1570, in the neck is a D-Activator X, and in the bridge is an Evolution 1. In the middle is the stock S1.

The Evo has virtually no buzz at all. The D Activator has about twice the volume of buzz compared to the evolution, and while it is tollerable it is annoying. These pickups are set at the same height.

The S1, I have lowered pretty much as low as it can go because I never use it, but it has terrible buzz, and im not sure if its due to it being so low. The buzz on the S1 is louder than the actual guitar sound.

Is it normal for the s1 to have so much buzz? And also, should the d activator x neck (which i think is not that high an output pickup) have heaps more buzz than the evo bridge?

What is the problem likely to be? I had the pickups professionally installed, and the outputs of the two dimarzios were correct.

thanks

Re: Question regarding the buzz of different pickups

Sounds like the "professional" that installed the pups didn't do a very good job with the wiring. Now may be a good time to get a soldering iron and get familiar with guitar wiring. If it was my guitar I would open it up and verify the wiring was correct. It's prett easy to follow the schematics from the Dimarzio website and there is also a sticky in the "pickups and wiring" section of this forum...good luck

Talking Re: Question regarding the buzz of different pickups

It could just be a wire that has come a bit loose and is grounding out on something. I use the best tech in the city and when I get my guitars back they are always great, but after a week or 2 or 3 the wood shifts due to temperature an such and stuff happens. Wires pop loose, or move. The tech that installed them will prolly be happy to take a look at it.

Re: Question regarding the buzz of different pickups

They shouldn't have any buzz at all unless something is wrong or you're playing with a ton of distortion with no noise gate. But it shouldn't be a constant buzzing. What are you playing the guitar through?

Re: Question regarding the buzz of different pickups

thanks, yeah like i said my evo in the bridge is virtually buzzless, and i think is wired up fine, but the d activator x buzz's something savage, also the s1 in the middle is unusable as the buzz is louder than the guitar.

nothing wrong with any of my other gear
