Questions about PGM800

Hello all! I'm new to this board. Well, new as a poster... I've actually been browsing regularly for about a year. I've learned a lot about guitars and gear during this time thanks to this board! I love reading this board.

I'm making my first post because I have some questions regarding the PGM800.

When was this model released?
What opinions you have of them?
How does it compare to the other PGMs?

Thank you.

Glen

All I know is the 800 is made of Light Ash. I think it was made in the late 90's. I have just started researching these models myself. I am sold on them. Great guitars. Most PGM's are hard to come by here in the states, but every so often I will see them for sale here or on an online auction. The most common one I see is the PGM500CA.

well i have never played one, (few have!) but i can tell it's a TRUE SIGNATURE MODEL (PG hasn't touched a trem in years). Paul plays this one a lot (right nuno?). I'd kill for this one

however, if you're looking at a certain auction site which we won't mention, paul's guitar has the control cavity cover in the f-hole shape, as opposed to this one. if someone knows why, please tell me

I have access to the 500CA. I believe this is the only model with the angled jack. All the others have the flush mount jack. This also has the f-hole cavity cover on the back. It plays like a dream. I've played it through my Legacy and it kicks a$$!. I would love to all the PGM's, but since they are so hard to get, I may just have to make thr PG styles

What I find interesting is a guy capable of building anything he wants still wants factory PGM's

Just "GOTTA HAVE IT" I am the same way with computer software.

I'm a junkie, what can I say. Is there a 12 step available? I already did the first step by admitting it!

I want them all.....JEM/UV/PGM/JPM/JS and (2) PM120's (1 black, 1 natural).

And, of course, the complete line of custom EKG's

I know, how can I forget the JS? It's late for me.

So, how can I get my Donnie back?

As for the original post, it is going to be hard to compare the 800 to any others since they are so rare around these parts. I'd kill for a red 700 with the block inlays

How rare are PGM800s?

I'd never seen one until the first time I was watching the 'Eleven Thousand Notes' DVD. I almost thought it was a PGM10th prototype (until I realized the DVD had been filmed awhile ago!)

Glen

PS. I've been wondering that, too, Eddie! You could've built a PGM800 if you wanted to!

I had to pass on a 800 a few months ago. I was waiting on my 10th and so never knew how good these guitars really were plus I was short of the cash. A week after I finally got the 10th I found a NOS 500CA.

I thought the 800 also had the angled jack (Never actually seen one so dunno)

Although comparing teh 10th to the 500 the 10th sounds better I think the Tone Zones sound a lot better with mahogany but that's JMHO

But Tone Zones with ash might be very cool indeed

The PGM800 has a regular RG type input jack, a pair of tone zones and a jem single. It's a pretty basic guitar like most pgms, however what sets it apart is the gold hardware, gold logo and the heavily glossed light ash body.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
The PGM800 has red/dark red f-holes and the one PG plays in 11,000 Notes has black ones.

True, I could build one (maybe I already am....... :P )

The one on the 11000 notes cover is not an 800. It looks like one , but it has pickup rings on the humbuckers and only 22 frets. I don't quite remember, but I think he used both on that live concert (that one & the 800). Man.. PG gets all kind of custom Ibanez ..12 string pgm..double neck pgm's..
Hey Eddie, so are you gonna start taking orders for 800 clones ? I'll get one ..

I remember reading a while ago on the forum:

"Don't ever offer PG his own signature model", being there are so many types. Not just color schemes, but totally different models.

Clones? No......PG "style"? working on it

The PGM he uses that has the 22 frets is the one which had the sustainer on it as see in TGT. It also has writing on it too.

Looks like he ironed on a newspaper or something ?

In the DVD you can see the hole where the toggle switch used to be.

Who knows, maybe he wanted the 22 fret pickup spacing for his sustainer as it has the Satch harmonic focal point or something which would work better.

It's maybe the neck off his old radius which he sawed in half in IR1.

Also did you notice in the 11000 notes that he has a yellow (Vintage white) PGM with a rosewood board hanging up behind him ?
