Maple neck for sure but the fingerboard could be either.
Usualy RG550 came with maple fingerboard but there are quite a few with rosewood as well.
I've got 1993 RG450 (same as 550 but with an EDGE and without the sculptured neck joint) and it has a rosewood fingerboard neck.

Ask the seller if the wood is light or dark.

I had a seller selling a '99 rg 550,

Just wanted to make sure if they made those. :P

Yes they did.
If you take the neck off, chancess are it will have a stamp reading "RG570" but they were available with rosewood fingerboard from the factory.

Older RG550 had rosewood fretboards (Hereīs one www.angelfire.com/bug/kaavio/RG550esittely.html). I donīt believe later regular 550s had those, only 550EX etc. models. Yup, RG505 also had rosewood.
