Question QWho just got the RG565 Blue from GC for $299?

I tried to call in on that baby and they were not open yet.
Then I called bay 20 min after they opened, GONE!
It even came with a case.
Who got it?
Or, it will show up on the Bay for some stupid high price just like the UV7BK that was $899 with the 11th fret up scalloped fretboard.

Don't see those very often. I was watching an auction for one just recently that went for about $450. #310665805747

$450 with a case is what they sell for when I see them.

Re: QWho just got the RG565 Blue from GC for $299?

I bought it this morning at 1:00pm cst. I called right when they opened and ordered it. The guy who worked there said there were six other people on the phone asking about the 565 while he was processing my order. First NO it's not going on ebay. I've been hunting for one that was in decent shape since I had to sell my black one back in 1998. I'll post pics as soon as it comes in. The guy taking my order did say it had like a hot rail single or something like that and an x2n humbucker. But those wont' stay in there long. I can't wait for it to get here.

I had an RG560 back in the late 80's. My first Ibanez. Iirc, the neck pickup originally was a stacked humbucker, not a sc?

Newbreed, you can thank me for not taking it...lol. I called about 20 min before the store officially opened and actually got someone. I turned it down, I hope the sales person that sold it to you told you about the neck crack and where the fretboard is seperating from the neck(the only reason I turned it down).

Enjoy it though, that aside they are great. I just already have one and didn't want a project.

Oh yeah...totally fixable, just not what I wanted to do. Just letting him know in case his salesperson didn't relay that important info.

I wouldn't have bought it either with a neck issue.

well, no he didn't mention the fretboard issue but did mention the stress cracks on the bolts that hold the locking nut on. If it's that bad, I will return it to the Kansas City store for a refund. I actually called an hour and a half before the store opened about the guitar and talked to trevor about it but he couldn't sell or hold it til the stores computers came on when the store opened. Either way, I'll just have to way til the guitar shows up to see how bad of shape it is in.

If it's a clean separation of the fretboard and neck, I can fix that. If it's not. They're gonna get the guitar back. Sales guy did tell me it came from a collection of a local that owns 8 Paul Gilbert models and a ton of late 80's RGs. But that could be BS too. I guess we'll wait and see how bad it really is. I'll post pics as soon as it comes in.

Is it just me or is this all kinda stupid. Like people going ape**** over these 565s. All because it is lazer blue and because it is a less common model we pay these exorbitant prices for an axe with a CRACKED neck and detached fretboard. For christ's sake, if that was a black 550 in the same condition it wouldn't get more than 150. And it would have a bigger feature set, an extra pickup, it would be an actual full featured super-strat instead of a novelty "hipser" guitar.

Now I feel better!

I just snagged a RG570 and a RG7620, both for great deals!

Not trying to start an argument, but how is an RG550 more full-featured than an RG565? The only real extra feature it has is the pickguard. I wouldn't classify the extra middle pickup as a feature. It's more of a preference thing. It doesn't make either one better. To some people, the lack of a pickguard and the H-S arrangement could be a feature.

I'll grant you that many of the things that make the 565 desirable are aesthetic (reverse headstock, etc) or have zero to do with functionality (rarity), but why should that matter? What you're suggesting is that the guitar is a tool and only functionality matters. If you wanted to make that argument, I could say that you should get an RG750 to get better pickups and a rosewood board that doesn't look like crap after a while.

Honestly I've never understood the devotion to the RG550, which commands a price well above an RG570 or RG560 and is usually even more expensive than an RG760.
