I'm always online looking for guitars to buy be it on evilbay, whatever and I have to laugh at times at the number of people who list pretty common guitars as 'RARE!!!!'. You see this in ads all the time. So anyway, I was wondering what really constitutes a guitar being rare in you guys' opinion and have you come across these standard guitars being advertised as RARE all the time.

RG550 "Serpent" perhaps?

Yeah those are pretty rare. One of those has been listed on the bay in the UK several times in the last couple of weeks with no takers on it.

I had an RG780 a few years ago. That was pretty rare from what I understand.

I don't have much to add to the question, but I can say that the "custom made" inlays Ibanez did was the worst idea ever. The amount of people that try to sell that as being indeed a Custom guitar is staggering. At least here in Brazil.

I guess that depends on your definition of Rare. A JEM is rare to some people, but I've got 4 and I'm guessing there's thousands between the people on this board.

Is my BSB rare? Anytime you can look on **** and only see 1 or 2 of something in a month long period, it's rare.

It's almost as bad as people who don't know the difference between vintage and old.

Rare means something thats real hard to get through normal channels..

i think j custom/usa customs,swirl jems are rare...not a normal rg.but how much good old rg 550 are for sale the last years?not that much and what is much and what is rare?
i think 350 gmc swirls is a lot!but they are not that often for sale so thats a rare guitar to buy but they are everywere.the sellers always make the true more beautyfull and buyers always complain about the condition and the price.its always the same and will be.
