Rare RG? Need ID help please...

Found this at a local music store. Never seen a 565 with bound fingerboard and inlays like this, let alone with rosewood. All I've ever seen were maple boards. If the headstock didn't match, I'd think it was a parts mutt. Here's a pic:

Any ideas as to model, value and any other info? Thanks!

Pete

There have beena couple of sightings of these over the years and they've been rumoured to be a spot production model that never made it to the catalogues.

I've heard them referred to as both the RG 765 and the RG565DX and have come across them in both yellow and candy apple red.

Not much info, but hope it helps

Cool guys, thanks for the props and info. Did they make many of these? I saw a few 565s when they were new, but never spotted anything like this.

If this thing is pretty rare, I may sell it since I'm not really an Ibanez guy (sorry folks) - it just caught my eye as something very different. Glad to see I still have the 'rare guitar finding mojo' in action.

I think that they are pretty rare, I've only known of 3 or 4 of them and I don't ever recall seeing one in person.

I don'tknow if they ever made it into a catalogue either due to the low production numbers.

If you place an advert in the forum here I dare say it'll go pretty much instantly

I just posted one. Thanks for the info... I'd rather see an Ibanez collector/fan get this than some random guy on ebay. I buy/sell a lot of Jacksons and Charvels, and I always post them FS on the JCF first to 'keep them in the family' if at all possible.

Ok, pulled the neck off, it's stamped 565R. So... the mystery model is revealed. Just thought I'd share that with you guys since y'all were so kind to share your info with me.

Cool guitar by any name, just too flat a neck for me.
