RBM2NT Original price??

I've been looking at a few of these online and they are pretty pricey but can anyone remember how much these sold for new when they first came out in the early '90's. Thanks!!!

I'm not sure about the price when they first came out, but the most recent edition of BB has it's final MSR price listed at $2100 for whatever that's worth. Also, FWIW one in 98% mint condition has a BB value of $1500 if that helps.

I don't disagree, and I didn't say they would actually fetch, or were worth that. It's always gonna come down to what the buyer will pay. Hence the multiple, FWIWs. But other than obviously checking recently ended auctions, that's one of the few places I know to at least start as a guideline (which may explain the reason that the RBMs he's been looking at are priced as high as they are as well )

Re: RBM2NT Original price??

They're priced high because that's what everybody was paying. There was an a hole with very questionable morals selling a group of them last year, all in the 3k range. One with a great flame top, but shot out, plenty of wear, terrible hardware, sold for $4750. Long ago they were quite reasonably priced, but that was long ago.

I remember that. I had been looking at them and thought I was going to be able to get one for something reasonable, next thing I knew every one I saw was up over 2k. I didn't realize it was the same seller though. Makes though. Somehow I just knew that Reb Beach hadn't actually experienced a sudden huge spike of popularity to drive the price up! (nothing against RB obviously, the dude has some tasty licks!)

Re: RBM2NT Original price??

I think it took a long time to realize how really good the guitars are, and they rarely come up for sale anymore. That combination drives prices, especially with the money being spent on other much more common models.

Indeed. My first guitar teacher played one during our lessons and I've dreamed of owning one ever since. Come to think of it, I think we've just traced back to the origin of my affinity for natural finish Ibbys! This was like a friggin Ibanez addict psychiatry session...holy cow! How much do I owe you Rich?

Re: RBM2NT Original price??

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I've seen a few of these pop up for sale recently and the price has varied somewhat. A guy also contacted me wondering how many of the RBMNT2 models were actually signed by Reb, he has been offered one for sale at $4500 and the seller is saying that there were only 100 signed by Reb. Can anyone shed any light on this? I'm afraid these guitars sort of passed me by over the years and I never paid to much attention to them.
