Is this a Real Japan Sabre?

Hi,

Looking at a lefty s540 with the old chrome/black neck plate - seial # 900668

does that sould authentic? I can send a pic of the plate, just cant post any here until I hit 20 posts

It has the IBZUSA C singles and F2 hum at bridge .... assuming its a 1990?

JUst want to verify with the experts here that there was a real japanese made lefty back in 1989-90

Re: Is this a Real Japan Sabre?

BUMP --- the plate says "new ideas for today's musicians " ? does that help with authenticity?

Thanks

Re: Is this a Real Japan Sabre?

Do a search of the ibby catalogs. Sounds legit but I never payed attention to the left hand models. In the future you might want to give it more than an hour before you bump it. Not everyone who could answer questions of this nature sits around their computers 24/7.

Re: Is this a Real Japan Sabre?

Thanks Cosmic - sorry for the early bump... just anx to purchase if its the real deal. Dont want to get hosed ---also noticed there is no seial # on the back of head stock and the tunders are black and say "made in japan" rather than gotoh? --- maybe Im just being paranoid, but always wanted one of these as a lefty

Pics will help. Though I doubt Chibanez would worry about faking a guitar that can easily be had for $300-$500

Im not worried about Chibanez. Im concerned someone had a plate/IBZUSA picxkups around and installed on a Chibanez (as you call them )

Also --- you can get a real Japanese Late 1990 lefty 540s easily for 3-500dollars? Where? Please tell me?

Re: Is this a Real Japan Sabre?

Seller asked if he took off the nexk would there be any#'s on the neck where it bolts on?

What would I want to see there ? cooresponding # to serial or should I just buy it and not have him take off the nexk

Re: Is this a Real Japan Sabre?

it has the regular rosewood neck (no t bound) --- no "custom made" on there

they are asking 400 for it? has some scrapes, but overall decent and Im not really hung up on appearances --- Im a player, not a collector

Do I hear a resounding YES?

Re: Is this a Real Japan Sabre?

I have a doubt ! no "Custom Made" inlay at the 21th fret <> 540

but I could be wrong, but I'd buy it anyway !

Re: Is this a Real Japan Sabre?

its legit I was gonna grab it but the front is full of massive scratches.

its actually a 440S but no one ever believes me..simply due to no "custom made" inlay
