Re: Is this really a 550?

as far as I know, no it is not a 550.

Ive always taken it as if the guitar is front routed (pickguard) it is a 550. Rear route (no guard) = 570.

Im figuring this is a 570 body with a 550 neck

Yup your right on, its a 550 neck on a X70 body, could be a 770 or 570 if it has a barrel jack, or 470,etc if it has a plate jack.
It also has non original pickups in it, that could be good or bad depending on what they are.

Re: Is this really a 550?

All 500 series have 550 necks. Some 570s did have maple boards.

Re: Is this really a 550?

It is most likely a 570 body, they can have a neck plate, they just dont have a Jack Plate. It appears, since it has an Edge Trem and not a Lo TRS that its a 570. And now that youve post the back, it has the 3 covers so 570 or 770 body all the way.

It's a 570. 470s don't have the tilted heel or scoop.

Re: Is this really a 550?

well, it's in brazil, where everything is f'in pricey... for around 700 us$... i could get a full 570 for that price, or even lower... i dont think i'll get this one, although it just looks killer

I'd get it! It's somewhat of a rarity with the maple board.

Re: Is this really a 550?

for real? yeah, u could look at it that way, but... i dunno, i don't feel comfortable getting modified gear from ppl... u never know what else they changed... even the pickups ain't original, they could be INF's, or even worse... i feel tempted, especially coz it looks stuningly good, but... not sure

Does that vary from year to year? The neck on my 520 is stamped 570.
