Re: Recommend me a non-Ibanez guitar

You can get a Carvin like the one posted above without the rounded body sides (just like that one).

A Jackson SL-1 or SL-2 seems to fit the bill too. If you find the ESP you mentioned, that is a GREAT option too.

Not sure why you aren't wanting an Ibanez, the RGT series is very nice. I bought an RGT3020 and I still get giddy when I play it.

You will have to either pay the EURO price thru a Carvin distruibutor in EUR or have it sent to a friend in the USA and then shipped over seas, which is far cheaper.

Let us know what you end up with.

I am a bit weary on the jackson guitars as I got screwed by them before on a custom guitar

All my guitars I have are Ibanez guitars so I want to venture on a new path

I cant seem to find the carvin with solid edges and a floyd rose, do you have to ring them up to get a quote?

Re: Recommend me a non-Ibanez guitar

That's one way to go. You can also go to their webpage and design what you want and then call them up.

I just helped a student of mine choose the specs for a Carvin. I'm looking forward to seeing and playing it when it arrives in a couple months.

Sorry to hear you had issues with Jackson. The ESP still sounds feasable, eh?

The Carvins don't have "solid edges" like say an RG does but have what I think is called a "broken edge". You have the option of getting "rounded edges" or not. Check out the Carvin build page and lok at some of the gallery for all the DC series for ideas.

Here's the gallery front page address:

Hey I am asking for a quote for a guitar really close to this

The alterations would be
24 frets
Maple board w black dot inlays
All black hardware
SD JB Hums
White binding around body and headstock
6 across headstock
and I am asking for them to put the PU selector somewhere between the two knobs

I am still waiting for the reply

Now you know you can price out your own instruments online right?

http://www.carvin.com/customshopelectricguitars.php

You might want to look at the Contour66 model too

Re: Recommend me a non-Ibanez guitar

Some bad news lads

Carvin said they can build the guitar I want but

they can't put 24 frets on it and they can't do binding around the body or headstock

or adjust the PU selector

and it will cost 1183.99

That sux, I guess I am gonna have to find a second hand MII from Japan or something

Re: Recommend me a non-Ibanez guitar

I know its going against my topic

but what are the chances of finding an RGR 580

I saw it on rich's site and its perfect but I would have to change the pickups

But I think If I ever would find one of these they are probably battered

Back on topic the japanese ESP MII is what I'll have to find

maple board, SD pickups, neck thru, FR bridge, 24 frets

I was wanting to get one of those Japanese ESP M-IIs but they are very hard to get for me and much more pricey because of tax and shipping

if you're into Japanese origin/build quality, check out the Jackson Soloist XL. it is AMAZING. The neck is thin and flat like a wizards, and it's the only Soloist built like that. No maple fretboard though, I think it's 24 fr, don't have it in front of me though...

I am trying to look for a guitar as close to the Japanese ESP MIIs

I want maple as all my guitars have rosewood

I am staying away from Jackson as they screwed me on a custom job a while back

Basically I put a deposit on a custom Jackson RR very similar to the line that they have now with 24 frets but I wanted a preamp booster on it with a seymour duncan
They quoted me on 2grand in euros then 6 months after they rang me up and said that because of the unique design we are going to have to double the price so they gave me a new quote for 4 grand euros

I asked for my deposit back as this was not the agreed price and thats where the trouble began btw they didnt even start to build the guitar

Re: Recommend me a non-Ibanez guitar

Looks like the new Caparison Horus is for you....

You'll have to set it up for regular tuning as it's tuned in C but it's no big deal...

They are great guitars.....
