Refinishing an RG-550m: On the right track?

I purchased this body and neck a few years ago and have finally decided to get cracking on it.

This is my step-by-step plan.

1. Sand everything down with 180.

2. Perfect the body w/ 220.

3. Apply wood grain filler, cure, then 220 again.

4. Several coats of sanding sealer.

Then I was going to see what it looks like before deciding on going the natural stain route, or primer and solid color route.

Does this sound like I am on the right track with this guitar?

--Thank You

Your plan will work, but it will take a lot of time to get it wood clean.

You still have the under paint (donít know the English word for this, the bas under the actual paint, wood sealing ect) left to get rid of (which is the hard part).
My suggestion, if you want it wood clean, is to use a heat gun and warm/scrape it away.

If you gone re-paint it with a filling (not transparent color), then you just need to get the surface clean and smooth. But it is good to remove it all, I think, or you will get a very thick layer of paint that will kill tone. The wood on the body is not a nice looking one, so just stained is not very nice looking. A pretty nice looking thing is to get thin flamed maple veneer and glue that on the top, and the stain it.

The guitar is not a 550, it is a 560.
