Replacing Pickups...assistance please.

Hey, I'm looking for opinions on replacement pickups.
I've got a late 80's RG 760, and an RG 550.
I used to have EMG's and thought they were great until one day, I played a friends Gibson V with a 500T in it running through my amp set up. It was a very noticeable difference in tone and feel. Those pickups were much hotter.
I've since replaced the EMG's and put in 500T into both my RG's. They're better than the EMG's but not the "wow" I felt when I played the Gibson.
Now, I know the Gibson is Mahogany and the RG's are both Basswood, so that's a tonal difference. But I've been searching for a pickup that will make these RG's really kick it up a notch because I absolutely love my RG's
I've tried the JB and a Dimarzio Super III. Both were good, about the same result of the 500T... but wanted a little "something" more. I've tried a Duncan Invader and that was too hot. Squealing and not a great tone IMO.
So I'm looking for a high output pickup, a great growl and bite, but just below uncontrollable.
Was looking at Duncan Custom, Duncan RTM, and a few others, but will they all be about the same due to the Basswood?
Has anyone had this same experience? If so...what did you try, and what did you settle one?

OH! This should be easy

Dimarzio Tone Zone. Lol kinda what it was designed for actually. Unfortunately this is one of those "tone is subjective" things; and for instance I truly despise the 500t with the passion of a thousand burning suns, so the tone zone may not be what youre after. That said, it certainly fits the bill for what youre asking. Its a much hotter PAF style basically, but its not absurd like the Invader. I have JB's in my charvels and I would personally say the tone zone is certainly in that "realm"; but I think its a bit hotter and a touch more "boomy". JB's are great though, only SD I'll bother with.

Another option IF YOU CAN FIND IT; a dimarzio evh/axis pickup will absolutely get you there. Since they released the sterling model that featured them, Im willing to bet they are a bit easier to find nowadays.

The dimarzio satchur8 is pretty hot. It has the same output of 375 (in dimarzio's measurement scale) as a the tone zone. It will provide you with a different voicing to listen to. It's very chunky, big sounding and sings... it uses alnico 8 magnets compared to the tone zones alnico 5's. Youtube the pickups for tone comparison. It was a little too hot for my taste. I still have it in one of my guitars though.

Bill Lawrence L500-XL? Look at reviews and info online, might be what you are looking for.
