RG 1570 vs RG 570

Maybe someone can help clear this up for me.

The RG 1570 has a prestige neck, and even though it is AANJ, it won't be interchangable with an RG 570 wizard neck AANJ pocket (or a JEM AANJ pocket for that matter). Correct? If so, what exactly is the difference that creates the problem?

Also, are the RG 1570 bodies routed to accept a original edge/genuine Floyd Rose trem like the RG 570?

I've got a RG 570 with a rough body that I was looking to replace, and I was wondering if a RG 1570 body would be be suitable replacement with my existing neck and hardware.

Re: RG 1570 vs RG 570

As I understand it, at one point (and I don't know exactly when) the dimensions on the neck pocket changed slightly. so I don't knowif' it's model specific so much as age specifi that effects compatabilit with other guitars.

the first RG1570s had the Lo-Pro trem and as such could take an original Edge or an OFR.

some one migh be good enough to post up the "changeover date" and then just get a body from a guitar made on the right side of said date

Re: RG 1570 vs RG 570

Exchanging the neck between a 570 AANJ and a 1570 AANJ should be no problem.
They will slide right in, I have done it several times (older AANJ body for newer AAJN neck and wise versa).

EDIT: You can sometime get problem when you change to a high levev (over 5) neck on a low lever body (under 5).

I’m not sure about the trem, never tried that one.
But it think it will work that way, putting old trem in new hole but not the other way around (don’t take my word for it).
But why exchange the trem when the EGDA Pro are a better trem (in my opinion) or at least equally good (in anyone who have really tried both opinion).

The EDGE Pro will probably be less worn than an older trem too.

Re: RG 1570 vs RG 570

Well, on this RG 570 I've already changed the trem to a new one (a Gotoh which is original edge/FR compatible). So I'd rather not buy a third trem! (The Gotoh is very nice, BTW.)

So: are the original edge and the edge pro route the same or different? Anyone know? Thanks for your help.

Re: RG 1570 vs RG 570

I was under the impression that the Prestige Wizard neck on the 1570 was 58mm at the 24th fret, while the old Wizard was 56mm? I've seen people stick old Wizards into new Prestige models, but never the inverse?

Re: RG 1570 vs RG 570

I saw a replacement jem body advertised on 3bay and the description had this comment in it

Quote:
The brand new trem inserts have been installed and will except any Edge or Edge Lo Pro trem (not Edge Pro or later trem).
which sort of suggests an edge pro route on a prestige body may not accept an original edge trem.

Comments?

Re: RG 1570 vs RG 570

as for the trem question:

you cant put an edge or lopro into a newer edge pro routing... coz the edge pro is slightly small... but you can swap the edge pro into a edge or lopro routing...

as for the neck swapping... hmmm let me see... just take a look at the pocket and if the screw holes are in line with neck you want to swap there should be no problem... as for the older necks they seem more narrow than the new prestige ones... but the thing is that if you try to that just be careful with neck pockets as you can mess the finish...
imho
