RG 2027 (need advice please)

Hi guys. I'm thinking of buying an RG 2027(X?-not sure) from a local guy. It has the violin finish, mahogany body, and the piezo double edge bridge.

I realize these guitars are somewhat rare and were only produced between 2000-2001. He is asking $1600 CDN and I'd like your opinion about whether this is a fair asking price. It seems high to me (there is always room for negotiation but 1600 for a used RG (even if it is rare)? I'm thinking more in the 1200 range.

Am I out of line with this thinking? In your opinion what are these guitars worth?

Thanks for your help.

i aggree $1200 seems fair - i picked one up shipped for AU$900 but it was not in good condition. If it is spotless and the finish is good though.....

i play mine everyday and it is awesome - the neck is fabulous and the stock pick-ups are supprisingly good (not sure what they are...i should know )

Are the PU's blaze 7's (just a guess)?

Also, I haven't actually seen it in person yet, but it looks to be in "Very Good" condition. As in rarely played and babied. If it is minty, do you think it might be worth a few hundred more?

Actually maybe the pickups are the vintage 7 and 8 (7's). Can anyone confirm this?

$1600 CDN, isn't that why the good Lord invented haggling?

I love mine.
I don't think I'll get rid of it anytime soon.

I had one before I got my CST and really liked it. I personally thought the pickups were not great and if you do score it, some new ones will make a big difference.

I replaced 'em by the combo AN7 - Evolution7

it's now a great heavy Guitar with the plus of the piezzo !

Re: RG 2027 (need advice please)

Hi All, I love my 2027 and the thing is not only does it have the piezo option but where it differs from a Universe is that the body wood is not the same and more importantly the 2027 has dual outputs. The universe does not. I will agree though the stock pickups are not the greatest thing, but I went ahead and added a D-Activator in the Bridge and I have to say they give my 6 string EMGs quite the run for the money. The spectrum of tonal possibilities I can reach with the new pickups is very pleasing to my ears. If you not happy with the stock Pups then go to the Dimarzio site and listen to sound samples or listen to your favorite artist and see what they use in their setups. Good luck.
