RG 20th / RG3120... help!

OK... I might be able to secure an RG20th. This is great, I have horrible GAS for one, but it means I'd be selling my RG3120 very soon to cover the cost. Am I being stupid? It's my only guitar, but I honestly feel more comfortable with the 550. I had a Road Flare back when they were released and I always loved the original Wizard, the colour, and after owning the 3120, I think I get along better with a lighter guitar. The 3120 is pretty heavy in comparison.

Also, does anyone know what the 3120 sells for these days in the UK? Mine is close to mint condition except it has one tiny nick in the clear coat which is barely visible to the eye. What can I expect to get for this now? It's a 2001 model in Deep Red, btw.

Please advise!

Get the 20th. You can always get another 3120 for a reasonable price in the future. RG20ths are going to be rare, desirable and expensive.

I'd keep the 3120.

There you said it...

the 3120 is a better axe, but if you want a RFR 550, thats what you want

I say keep the 3120 and just buy a used 550.

Depends on what you want.... a higher resell value or probably a better overall guitar

If you allready prefer the 550 in the first place (I understood that that's what you are saying) then go for the 20th Only chance to get a NEW 550, and you will have the better titanium reinforced neck JAY was talking about, besides the other goodies (matched color case ...). A used 3120 you shoul be able to find anytime, when your funds allow for it

Re: RG 20th / RG3120... help!

IMHO trading a RG3120 for a 20th RG makes no sense. The RG3120 is an upper scale model, with better features (this subjective though) and a higher list price.

That said, if you like the RG20th a lot more than the RG3120, well thats all that counts. I mean, I would also say that selling a 7VWH to get a RG20 makes no sense, but then again if you cant stand the liberace looks of the 7VWH, and on the otehr hand you love the DY colour you could decide to do so.

Why not? That's not a very detailed answer for Dee is it?

Re: RG 20th / RG3120... help!

Dee, I do this too. I agonize over some decisions long after I've actually made them. I ask for "advice" from people when all I really want is their approval and my justification. I think you have basically made your decision. You made it a long time ago when you started the petition to bring back the neon colors (sorry, colours). Of all the Ibanez fans in the world, you have gotta be the one who's invested the most time and effort in influencing the company to re-issue neon shred machines. And now they are re-issuing them, and you're not gonna get one?

I agree with those above who say that the RG20TH will only be available for a short time, and the 3120 (or an axe like it) will be wide-open available in the future. And I know they're more expensive there, but if you have a reasonable shop to deal with, it's possible. It's not eight hundred pounds now, it's more like three hundred pounds now and the balance in four or five months when the guitars actually get to Merry Old. And I'm sure, my friend, you can find a way. Good luck.

£849 retail, I got mine for £800 each.

Any Prestige Dealer can get you one - depends what's left un-ordered if they can get the one you want.
