RG 2550 EGK vs. RG 2570EVSL vs. RG1570MRB vs. RG2620CBK

Hi, i'm looking to buy one of the RG guitars, and i was considering the 4: RG 2550 EGK vs. RG 2570EVSL vs. RG1570MRB vs. RG2620CBK
I was wondering what is the difference between those 4 prestige models, and which one is the best one? Somehow, i've grown personally attached to the 2550 EGK because it plays so well, and has the best color out of all of them. Anyways, what is the difference between them?

Well, it depends on which you prefer. The 2570 and 1570 are the same except for the cosmetics and pickups. The 2550 is the same but is front-routed. The 2620 is a bit different with it's lack of a single coil and has a special 5-way switch. They are all sweet guitars in their own right.

No "best" one; like Kamikaze said, they are all essentially the same guitar. If you like how the 2550EGK plays, they should all play exactly alike because the necks are all the same dimensions and features except the 2570 has sharks teeth inlay and has a bound fingerboard. I like the 2550 or the 2570 in black if you can find it; they do make it in black.

Thank you guys! Your responses sure helped me out a bit. What is "front-routed"? And what is the name of the case that is supposed to come with the RG prestige? Because I know a store that sells the 2550 E w/o a case.

Front routed means that guitar has pickguard and pickups are mounted to pickguard.

Edit. Btw. my choice would be RG2550EGK.

Yeah, I tend to have a leaning preference on the 2550 E also.

it's the Team J Craft case. i don't know the model number. but it rocks.

oh, and my choice would be either the 2550 or the 1570 with a pick-up change. having said that, i just pulled the trigger on a 3120 instead.

If they are selling the 2550 without a case, they are running a scam because they come from Ibanez with the case. They are probably trying to sell the case separately to rob you of more money unless they are marking the guitar down $100 or more for the case not being included.

It is $850 w/o case, but i know a friend who mite give me $100 discount, but still i have to buy it separately. Or should I buy it for $875 w/ case from a web site?

$850 without a case is a superscam. I'd buy it for $875 w/case from a web site if I were you. Remember: there are no taxes on the web site either and shipping should be free.

If you're willing to spend a little more and aren't skilled at setting up your own guitars, you should buy it from Rich at www.ibanezrules.com where he will do a full setup including fret level and dress.

Is the spacing b/t frets on the RG any different than the fret spacing b/t frets on a Standard Stratocaster? I notice both has 25.5 inches scale length, but since the Strat has 21 frets and the RG has 24 frets, i was wondering if the frets on the RG was a little compressed in size to fit in w/ the 25.5 inch scale length.

spacing is the same. a 24 fret fingerboard just extends further towards the bridge.

i can't believe the neck on my 2550 compared to the 2 strats i had.i actually play faster and more importantly >cleaner<.i am sure i would have gotten used to the strats( a mexican and an american)as it just takes time but the frustration made me not want to pick it up as often.with a strat my fingersd wouyld be very sore after 15 mins.but this neck i play for 2-3 hours no problem.i always thought the gear doesn;t make the player but in this case if i can play longer and want to p,lay more often the right gear does help big time
cheers
