Re: RG-470 help.

Pretty sure the only year they offered the 470 with a Wizard was 93. You can always swap in a 24 fret AANJ Wizard, though - I have a 2000 RG470 like that.

Re: RG-470 help.

Yeah, the only reason I wanted the 470 was for the wizard 1 neck, what about 550's?

Re: RG-470 help.

1998 will be a Japanese made guitar with a Japanese spec Wizard II. The difference apparently is that the Japanese Wiz-II has the same shape neck as the Wiz, but is about the same thickness as the Korean Wiz-II.

don't be put off by the Wiz-II neck, the Japanese versions are far better than the Korean ones of the same vintage.

If you're not too concerned about keeping everything perfectly stock, I would just take a bit of sandpaper to it. I've done this to my RG470 carefully comparing it to a superwizard neck I have from the late eighties and I'm very pleased with it. It feels comfortable and now it plays even faster without a lot of finish on it. Hope this helps.

Re: RG-470 help.

I have a year 2003 RG 470 fm MIJ. It has a wizard 2 neck, can anyone tell me if that wizard 2 has the neck profile of the Wizard 1, or is the real wizard 2 neck profile?

It's a real wizard II neck profile, but with the shape of a japanese wizard, not as the Korean wizard II (shape is not the same as thinness)

I have an Ibanez RG470TI (199, it's really confortable, not as the late koreans
another difference should be the trem
