RG 550 Fretboard Finish Wearing Off. Worry?

I've got a couple RG 550's, 1991's. The finish on the fretboards were worn when I got them used. Maybe more so now. The edge's where the fretboard turns into the neck is worn off too. I just wonder if I should worry about warpage. Not that I should worry because I kind of am already, but is it something to worry about? I hear maple is supposed to be hard finished and if it's raw it could warp. Personally I like the look of the wear.

i dont think so.... eddy van Halen prefers his necks unfinished. I have an 83 Ibanez Roadstar that has significant wear on the neck ( theres no finish left on the edges, hehehe) and I can get the action lower on it then my new RG. If you feel Uncompferble( sp???) I know a few guitar techs on the site would be more then happy to refinish it for you.

Jeremy offered to re-finish one of them when he had it for a refret, but I declined. I think the wear looks great.
The finish on these RG's seems really thin. Compared to my 70's Strat neck which has a coat of thick poly-something or other.

Eh, no worries.

Just don't let it get wet (sweat will seep in a bit, but just keep a dry cloth for when you're finished playing) and don't let it sit in the rain. It'll be fine.

My 1990 RG550 has just about no finish on the neck/fretboard and it's just fine. :-)
