RG 770FM Project

Thanks to some friends here on Jemsite I have a near mint 770FM body. Gonna turn this into a nice project. I will probally use the 91 550 maple neck I have on it. I have a Cosmo Edge and stuff that I am going to use on it.

Bridge Pickup is probally gonna be a Air Zone or Breed
Middle Pickup is probally gonna be a Chopper or Air Zone S
Neck will either be a Air Norton or Breed

Gonna wire it up like this. Use a standar 5 way Switch with no coil tapping. It is going to have two mini swtichs. One to coil tap and one to put the buckers in Parallel mode. I might do one extra to put them out of phase.

I had thought bout puttin a pickguard on it but still on the fence about that.

I would be happy to listen to any suggestions, comments, or advice as this is my first real guitar project I have ever done.

Don't put a black pickguard on!! I'd try a clear one, with red pickups.

Clear would show the pup ring screw holes and red pups would not match the finish. Black pups would look best me thinks.

Re: RG 770FM Project

I would put a black guard on but change it to H-S config and no tone knob, then it'd be somewhere between a 550 and 565.

Aye, and the pickguard would match the headstock too.

It's gonna be a beautiful axe, CD!

Re: RG 770FM Project

My $.02 - go with the Air Norton in a red/black zebra, black Chopper in the middle, and red/black zebra Breed in the bridge. Finish it off with red knobs and switch topper and a clear pickguard.
