RG 870 vs RG 920

I've been thinking about trying out a RG Premium cuz the prices on the Prestige line are making me ill... Can anyone tell what the difference is between these two guitars? they look the same to me...

When I go the RG page on the Ibanez site I don't even see a RG 920 :

There's also the small difference of the added middle pup on the 870.

You don't see the 920 on the Ibanez page because you selected your country as Canada-- it's not a Canadian market guitar. Select USA.

You can buy the figured 870 in CA, but be prepared to change the pups out. Or buy a 920 from Rich and get great pup's stock, and maybe even a killer setup if you like.

I'm glad it's not on the 920.

Me too!! I think Ibanez figured out that many of us prefer an H-H setup........or maybe they were just trying to keep costs down..........LOL.

You don't see the 920, but you do get the 870QMZ which has Quilted Maple top, which is about the only difference there.

...omg...lol...how could I have missed the middle pup...head's a little cloudy this morning I guess ;o) thanks guys! ...looks like the pups are the only real difference...cuz aside from that they both look very similar with qm tops and EZ2 bridges... I would love to order a guitar from Rich someday cuz I've heard so many good things about his service (I surf his site regularly cuz there are so many nice guitars there =) but I recall seeing something on his site about how he can't ship guitars to Canada in one piece because of USPS changes to size limits...

thanks I should have guessed - we don't get the same selection up here...maybe I need to do a road trip to Guitar Centre in Washington and see what they have there...I'm only 3 kms from the border crossing...lineups are hellish though...

I read the info below on your site but it looks like maybe this is just for used guitars?

UPDATE - The brain trust in charge of services at the USPS have completely screwed up all Postal International shipping. The ONLY option left after the 5/14/07 service changes is Postal Fedex [Global Express Guaranteed]. There is no longer any Express or Airmail services to any country in the world. They have standardized the box size for all services except Postal Fedex to 42" length with a total length plus circumference [ L+W+W+D+D] at 79". The only way to ship a guitar at these dimensions is without case and taken apart with neck off. I will do a full update of this page soon.
