RG 920 Premium anyone?

I'm tempted to buy a RG920QMZ Premium. Price is good. The Red Desert color rocks!

I already have 4 RGs: RG350M (modified with Dimarzios), 2 RG550 and a RG7620...

Yay or nay? Should I? So what's your call on these RG920...

I love them. They may not be every bit as good as you 550's/7620, but they're damn close!!

If the price is right, i'd be buying.

Yes $549 is a killer price.
I've been tempted but I need to not buy anymore non JEM Ibanez 6 strings.

Re: RG 920 Premium anyone?

I have a 921 in red. It is my go to guitar. Got mine new for $480!

Mine is better than my 99 mij rg520qs.

The fretwork is better. The 520 had a high fret at the 15th position. No biggie, the 921 had 23 and 24 not seated fully.

the fret ends on the 520 are beveled too much. I have to be careful doing pulloffs on the high e.

the super wizard on the 520 had a flamed piece on one side of the bubinga center strip and a standard piece on the other. Over time the neck developed a twist to the flamed side.

The action is lower on the 921 than the 520 ever was.

the 520 sounds stiffer and somewhat dead in comparison.

the only area that the 520 excels is the cosmo hardware. The 921 is worn after 3 months, more than the 520 has worn in 13 years.

Can you tell that I love mine?

Re: RG 920 Premium anyone?

Just received my RG920MQMRDT in today, and within moments of it touching my hands i was thrilled with the purchase. I dont know how the QC is on all of them but the neck/fretboard on mine is FLAWLESS and feels amazing. I'd vote yes 100%

You can always talk to polyphia's guitarist on facebook. Name's tim henson i believe. He's gotthe RG920 with the maple fretboard too.

I say nay, I think there is way better geets for a bang for your buck out there especially owning 4 rg's. Purely my opinion.

Re: RG 920 Premium anyone?

Great guitar, nice pickups, hardware great but very disappointed about the frets. Uneven and needed some work with a neck alignment. 400 Aussie dollars later all is good. I'd recommend playing the one you buy if possible as I'm not the only one who has reported fret problems on these otherwise great axes.

Re: RG 920 Premium anyone?

Well, guys, I was too slow and missed the deal on the RG920. Anyway, in the mean time, I came across a limited run of MIJ Strats. My new Strat is waiting at home in a box. I can't wait to finish at the office and drive home to check it out.

Re: RG 920 Premium anyone?

Most likely you saved yourself some headache. Premiums are rarely good to go out of the box. Yes, Jems too need some adjustments... still, frets are usually a weak spot and that costs money to get them fixed.

I just got an RG921f with the Tight End Bridge and the fret work was better than what I had on my Charvel Model 6 or Charvel LS1. As far as I can tell it is perfect. And it's playability is second to none. I am totally pleased with mine.

Obviously there is a lot of variability. You were lucky and I was not. Thankfully the rest of the guitar is great.

I'd love a S 920, if it didn't have that black matt finish on the neck..
