Which RG models started w/ OriginalWizard necks

i have got an RG470 ( i just got in today) and it has a thick neck on it(compared to a Wizard)

Found an RG120 and the neck on the RG120 is thinner than the RG470

the neck on the 120 isnt a Wizard though..i compared it to my RG570 which i know is a Wizard

w/ a Lo Trs Trem...that dang thing wont stay in tune worth a crap

i have my '92 RG570 w/ an Edge and it stays in tune w/ no prob/

which models did Ibanez start out with putting Wizards on

the 500 series and up

can anyone help?

Well, among others, the RG470 had a wizard originally (I own a '90-something RG470 with a wizard.) Later ones had the wizard II (thicker). Likewise with the 540S, originally had the wizard, later, something thicker.

I think 4xx built before 93 had Wizard and Edge. After that, they moved production to Korea and the 4xx sucked. Later, they moved production back to Japan, I think it was 98.

according to the cats supplied by this site, the 470 was intro'd in '93 MIJ, Edge bridge, V7 S1 V8 pups, Wizard neck, and then production was moved to korea in '94, lo-Trs, inf1 infs1 inf2, Wizard ll neck. so my guess is you have a '93 470. I bought an RG570EG off of that site and when I pulled it out of the case I immediatly noticed that the neck pocket (which I could not see in the pics) was not sculpted, (scooped out) So I did some research to find out what it really was by lookin through the cats here and found that aside from the neck pocket it had the same specs as the older 570's so I still have it and never complained to the seller for what I believe was an honest mistake as there were no markings on the back of the headstock AND it was in dead mint condition with no fretware whatsoever. the trem bar was still so tight it would stay in place at a 90% angle and all of the original tools and Ibanez literature was in the case. It even had the "Ibanez on the road" sticker never pealed from the backing in the case!!
