Was this RG repainted ???

Proclaimed RG350DX wh, 2007, serial I071023148 and RG350DX on the white with black/silver logo body matching headstock. All parts match apart the 5 way switch which seems to be chines crap, not genuine Ibanez. But when checking up on this guitar, my eyes fell on details below. Is it normal that underneath the white paint, you have sparkly red kind of paint with Ibanez ? is it some kind of primer or insulation paint ? In case of repaint, I would find it strange that someone would go through the hassle of putting an original RG350DX neck on some other body and stick with the terrible edge III.

Thx!

Re: Was this RG repainted ???

Looks HIGHLY suspicious to me, all of my guitars (although they arent ibanez) has some form of cosmetic damage, but they ALL just have the wood underneath the original paint.
where did you buy this from ?
i would be suspicious of someone selling you a lesser model guitar with a few noticeable parts from another model.

Hopefully its the right model of guitar thats not had a neck/bridge replacement and has just been repainted to look nicer but you can never tell. depending on the model id contact ibanez and give them the serial number from under the headstock to confirm what its supposed to be.

I agree, that looks awfully shiny to be primer underneath the white paint. Some of the more DIYers on here could tell you more. I have only sanded down one body before.

No, that's not normal.

What is the condition of the paint on top? Does it feel like a factory finish? I could certainly imagine a Korean or Chinese manufacturer re-painting a body that had been left over from a previous manufacturing run.

Re: Was this RG repainted ???

Thx for the input. It is a guitar I'm setting up for someone.

Actually, the white finish looks really good. You couldn't tell it would've been refinished by a hobby guy.

Re: Was this RG repainted ???

Never seen shiny red primer before. Probably a repaint. I bet under that red paint is the original white paint. Wonder if someone decided they wanted a red guitar and then someone later put it back to white.

Re: Was this RG repainted ???

It was definitely painted, but whether or not it was done at the factory is another question. Im sure all factories have repainted some bodies. I know for a fact Fender does it all the time.

Re: Was this RG repainted ???

Look like more a CAR finish than just a red primer.
Have a check at the back of the headstock and see if there is a sticker glued in place of the serial number.
Most probably it's a refurbished axe. They put them back on the market with "SP" in the model number.

That guitar looks like an '07 RG350R1/SP1 CA thats been refinished- very possibly by the factory.
