RG with a thick neck

This is most likely a stupid n000b question, but are their any RG models that have a thicker wizard neck shape? Anything like a Wolfgang or a San Dimas?

Re: RG with a thick neck

Some of the J-Customs from around 2003-04 vintage do. I have a 2004 RG8520 that has a Wizard profile neck that's 19.5/21.5mm thickness.

Re: RG with a thick neck

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but most if not all of the current non-Prestige RG's are equipped with the Wizard II neck which is thicker than a Wizard. I have one. It is flat but has chunky "shoulders".

Re: RG with a thick neck

Every rg ive touched is still pretty thin, if you're looking for like Gibson fat you might want to look into a non-Ibanez. Agile makes some pretty fat necks, and they're models are pretty much RG rip offs if you want to look at those...Personally the thin neck is why I love RG's and dont play anything else, lol.

The Viper neck? I'm not sure what guitars had them.
I like Wizard 2 because it's thick. The ones without binding feel a bit better on the "shoulders" I think.

Re: RG with a thick neck

My RG2020X has a fatter, rounder neck than a standard Wizard. It's called the Ultra, though according to catalogs it didn't appear until 2002 when that particular guitar was upgraded and became the RG2120X. Either way, you might want to think about finding an RG with an Ultra neck on it.
