I'm with ya on that. Especially the first comparison. I've owned both, kept the MRB.

IMO, 3's are different from the 5's rather than outright "inferior". Prestige is obviously better quality but the 3's are nice if you can tweak them.
One thing that is a FLAW on the 3's, though, is that the hex nuts on the nut for the low E and A string strips easily. I needed to replace them on BOTH of my 350's.
My black 350 does have personality, though.... I like how a lot of the Indy's look too.
Aesthetics are hit and miss from person to person. Quality is above and beyond looks. You don't have to keep on top of a Prestige the way you have to look after a 3 series.

I'll take any dot inlay Ibanez over one of those crap sharkfin/ghostfin inlays anyday.

Yet another thread that doesn't live up to it's title!!!

I thought refering to "ass about face" it was going to at least be a bit saucy

Maybe it's gets better on the 69th post!!

I dislike sharkfin inlays and I play metal mostly. I don't mind how aesthetically metal Ibanez is at the moment, it's the quality and choice of electronics I'm concerned about.

Agreed, Ibanez need more prestige reverse headstock models. Though when I saw it in the flesh I thought it was lovely. I'd probably just replace the EMG designed pickups (which don't sound too bad actually, when I tried one of the Ergodyne models, remember them?) for the real thing, or some SD blackouts.

For some, myself included, a guitar has to inspire you to play. I just can't get inspired playing a 2000's black/dark blue/dark green, middle of the road, nan and grandad friendly.....

I gotta have sparks and flames, rock 'n roll, neon, crazy graphics, spandex up my ass... ahem, you get the picture.

I just can't get over how good my rg550mxx rf sounds, I must've got a really good one, a real keeper. It's so easy to sound good on it. It has a sound like Paul Gilbert and Van Halen that I just can't get with my neck thru Jacksons. The Jacksons have a dark sound, but my RG is just ROCK! When you hit a harmonic and do a dive the RG just has a totally different sound to the Jackson.
