RG1550/RG1570 Opinions on these guitars

Hello, Im from Portugal, and our currency here is in Euros.

This October 24 I will make 1 year of guitar practice x)

I currently own an RG350, completely stock, except the locking nut, I had to buy a new one, because I accidentally effed the old one.

My amp is a Roland Cube 30X (1st amp).

I also own a Pod 2.0 and a FBV pedal.

I saw this RG1550 guitar, and those are "Reissues" from the RG550? right?

Those guitars kicked (and still kick) huge ammounts of butt for their price.

I saw a RG1550 NEW for 700€

My dillema:

I can easily get better sound out of my RG350 simply by changing the pickups, but it wont have a prestige neck nor Edge Pro...
I want to buy the Dimarzio Air Norton and the Steve's Special pickups, because I want more sustain/output...

Also I can get much better sound with a better Amp...

I saw the Spider Valve 212 selling for 500€ New.
I read some reviews, and saw some clips, and I really liked the sound

Basically, RG1550+New Pickups + Spider Valve and I would probably have my "Dream Gear"...

What do you guys think?

Sorry for the long message, and I know my English isnt the best, so be patient with me

TL;DR:

keep RG350 and Cube 30X
Change Pickups on RG350 and keep Cube30X
Get the RG1550 and Keep Cube30X
Get the RG1550, change pickups, get the Spider Valve 212 /Other amp you guys seem to be better for 500€

If you think you can afford both then go for it otherwise I think that a new RG1550 and the Roland amp will do a good enough job.

Thank you very much for your post

Well, I will probably get the guitar first, but not in a near future, because now money isnt enough for adventures hahaha.

Well, changing the V7/V8 pickups on it will make it a far better sounding guitar, right?

Re: RG1550/RG1570 Opinions on these guitars

Well there are lots of RG550 owners out there who have never found the need to change the stock V7, S1, V8 pickups on their guitars as they are good pickups but tone is a very subjective thing so it'll basically boil down to what sort of sound you are looking for.

why not a old stock rg 550/570?those are great too!and a lot cheaper!
you have a super good guitar.the same or higher level than the prestige.
then you safe money for a better amp

Re: RG1550/RG1570 Opinions on these guitars

I always find that a good guitar makes playing more enjoyable than a good amp. So I think get the RG1550 and save for new pickups, then get the amp last.

By the way, my guitar teacher has the spider valve and he says it's awesome. He's a great musician, so that's a thumbs up on the spider valve

I'd have to recommend a Vox VT over a Line 6 Spider Valve. I demo'd both recently when I was after a new amp and the Vox was miles ahead.

Does the VT function similarly to the Spider Valve?

In the sense that they are both Digital Modelling Amps with onboard effects, yes.

Re: RG1550/RG1570 Opinions on these guitars

I have 2 RG1570 Ibanez guitars. 1 with stock and 1 with Evo Pups and blue velvet for the single coil.

Honestly I love both! I love the stock pups splitting the middle pup with the neck sounds so shimmery clean!

I do prefer the 'upgraded' pups however like already mentioned that's a personal preference.

Excellent guitars. Edge Pro = love : - D

Re: RG1550/RG1570 Opinions on these guitars

Today I was on the local music store and saw an RG570 for lefties.

It was black, had the Edge Pro and the V7/V8 pickups, hahaha I almost jizzed my pants x)

I wanted to try it, but I am not left handed

The RG550/RG570 dont have prestige necks, dont they?

BTW The guitar costed 650
something like that.

The "normal" version should cost like 590?

that's not too bad.

The perfect guitar is the soul of a guitar player. I say get the prestige when you can first.

Yhea, because unconsciously I would be like:

Wow, I just spent 500 on this, and with 100 more I could have a Prestige.

Well, I dont have the money now, maybe next year

I have a RG1550 Poison Pumpkin color and its an incredible guitar no doubt. I have a spider 2X12 combo its not the valve but its very good. I thought about changing the pickups but for right now they get the job done for me.
