Rg1570 or maybe RG870QMZ

Hi,
I just sold my old cort x-11 and going to buy an Ibanez. I was thinking of prestige RG1570Z but premium RG870QMZ is interesting too. I need you to help me a little, My main goal is a decent tremolo. Is edge zero II much worse than prestige EZ? These guitars are in similar price and I wonder if beautifull premium it's worth a shot or I'll regret later I hadn't bought a prestige one.

all your really getting with the 870 is the top. the 1570 is still a better guitar, just a very, very, VERY boring one

Go see my thread and review of the RG920QM--it's basically the same guitar.

except one comes with a case and one comes with a gig bag, and what resale value holds for the premiums no one knows. For looks i go with the premium for everything else the prestige

Re: Rg1570 or maybe RG870QMZ

case vs gig bag doesnt really change the quality of the guitar. same with resale value. theyre definately things to consider, but the guitar quality comes first. its the same wood, this new factory is apparently almost as good as fujijen, its a bit cheaper, the pickups are better (but thats only an opinion), it looks better and the neck is apparently VERY close to the prestige. all the preasige has on it is the trem

.......... and there's no evidence yet that say's the EZ trem is better than the EZ2. It seems to me that the EZ2 is just as well built as the EZ.... just without the built in intonation tool.

Re: Rg1570 or maybe RG870QMZ

IMO, the case is an important thing to consider. I can't bring myself to put one of my Ibbys in a gig bag...even the one that came with my RG1420F. Luckily I have 2 other Prestige cases for when I need to take it out. I'm currently looking for a case now and a used Prestige case runs $100+. So if you're trying to "save" money by buying a Premium, you'll spend what you saved and more on a nice case that would have come with (most) Prestige models.

As far as the guitars go, the choice comes down to whether you want the look of the Premium or the quality of the Prestige. Some people will say that the Premiums are as good, but most of the opinions you'll hear about them are speculative and not based on first-hand experience. The Premium models are brand new, and their quality is unproven as far as I'm concerned.

It's hard to go wrong with a Japanese Ibby since their quality is and has been proven over the years.

Re: Rg1570 or maybe RG870QMZ

Yup, I'll have to play one to believe it. And even then, quality over time is in the favor of the Prestige line. If the quality's there over the long run then maybe the Premiums would have some bragging rights. I think if it comes to that point you may see Ibanez consider replacing the RG1XXX series with Premiums. If they're the same quality and can be priced for less, why not? I guess time will tell.
Also, AlaskaBat's 820 is going to sound better as it has better pickups.

Re: Rg1570 or maybe RG870QMZ

I have the 920--no middle pup. As far as a case goes--go buy one. A case is not a deal breaker. For the price of a Premium through Rich plus a decent case like the m100c--still one great deal. I have never tried an EZ, but I'm loving this EZ2.

if the prestige series is not a better guitar than the cheaper premiums than Ibanez shot themselves in the foot.

Re: Rg1570 or maybe RG870QMZ

I can have new RG1570Z for 3100 PLN which is about 1087 $ and RG870QMZ for 3200 PLN which is about 1122 $ The cheaper shop doesn't have the premium one and that's the reason why I'd have to pay more for a premium. I have also read on Ibanezrules that the qm top on premium is only a veneer

Re: Rg1570 or maybe RG870QMZ

It is in fact a veneer. May not matter to some. If the Prestige is cheaper than go for it.

Just go play both and see what you like better--that's all that matters, not what we think.
