RG2020X/S2020X any good?

What are those piezo pups in the RG2020X/S2020X doing there apart from saving you reaching for an accoustic guitar in a live session? Are they any good?

Are they useful for getting some really interesting tones which aren't possible with magnet pups?

I do know what piezo pups sound like, just not too sure what can be done with them on an electric guitar. Enlighten me, please!

Also I wonder what Jemsiters think about the RG2020X/S2020X? * I might be interested in one (instead of a 77FP! Hmmm... )

I also prefer the RG body over the S. Looks aside, there's no much difference between the two, is there?

Guess I'd take an RG2020X RIGHT NOW if it had been a 2-1-2 config! Do they come in a different colour than TB?

The 2020x was also my choice. I whish it did come in somthing other than a blue, but no. I guess Ibanez just had blue on there mind last year.
For the money I belive that the 2020x is one of the most versitile guitars I have played. To get any other brands with the same features you would be spending double that price.
The biggest thing for me was getting use to the neck on the 2020x. I already had a 2027x and loved that neck, but the biggest surprise to me was that the 2020 had a really different design, It has a much more U shape than your average ibanez. Ussually you'll find Ibanez has a flat back on there necks. This really came as more of a surprise than a disapointment. I actually kinda like the comfort of having the extra meat to it. (then again I was just swithcing from 7's)
As far as the piezio goes, your probably not gonna use it on every song, but that one extra one will make it all the differance. If you like the acoustic sounds this is the easiest way to incorporate it into your show live.

You're probably thinking of the 3120... it comes in red and blue (same blue as the 2020).

The 3120's not entirely different... it has a flamed maple top, Dimarzio pickups, but no piezos. Otherwise, it's basically the same as the 2020.

One more difference between the 3120 and 2020x...the necks.

I know what Rg3120 is. And I'm sure that there's a red colored Rg2020x 'cause I've played one and it was not Rg3120 'cause it had the double edge and no flame top. It basically had all the same specs than the blue one.
Just go to the www.ibanez.co.jp and see the double edge section. There are two colors available for the Rg2020x!

Wonder if they'll release the red 2020 to the US market...but then again there are a whole lot of other Jap models that would be appreciated here as well.

Well... I think that Rg2027 and Jem7bsb are not just available in Japan but in most parts of other world. They just aren't imported to America anymore 'cause they don't sell too well there. (I think)

If someone (like the admistators here) doesn't believe it, then tell me why I can always find a brand new 2027 and 7620 AND a BSB whenever I go to my local store here in Finland???

Oodee there is no doubt that you may be able to get a 2020x in red, just not here in the United States, where a lot of the forum members and all of the administrators live.

Kirk:
So you actually believe that the 2027 (and the other models I was talking about) isn't discontinued but not just imported to America??? Or were you just talking about the availability of the red 2020x???

I've been writing about this same thing here before and have always got an answer like: "The 2027 is discontinued 'cause the no matter what you say".
Well not an answer exactly like that of course but I hope you got my point.
I think it has usually been Glen who has answered to my post considering this subject.

All I'm usually trying say that if there's a guitar that doesn't exist in States anymore, the American people tend to think that it is always discontinued.

Just remember that I'm not trying to offend anybody here!!

Peace...

RG2020X/S2020X any good?

Indeed I noticed that both the 2027 and 2127 are still listed on the Japanese Ibanez site. But then, so is the JEM 7BSB.

Dunno. Maybe these axes are indeed still being sold in Japan? You know what. I wonder if brand new custom7BFPs can still be bought over there, say if we paid them enough! Hehehe!

I still haven't test driven an RG2020X yet although I'm *getting a lot more interested in one these days after seeing you guys' comments.

Note: The Rg2027 and Jem7bsb are also available in Europe (I assume 'cause they're available in Finland at least) not just in Japan.
