Steve,
Sig guitars are good if played by the artist.
Steve made a show of playing a 555 for a while. note for a while.

I had a PGM30 and after owning it I KNOW that a standard RG is better and cheaper. Also note i bought the RG after the PGM.

I've always said that if Ibanez did the 'cheap' sigs better then there wouldn't be a problem.

Problem with them all is the TRS+
Jem 555 hideous inlay
JS100 Joe satriani inlay
PGM30 neck profile plus on mine the threads for the machineheads broke/expanded because the plating was poor

The JS700 is a great guitar only one flaw is the inlay at 22nd but It falls in between high and low.

Fo the Jem range I would say stick an edge on it ditch the dimarzios and inlays *to cover the cost and it would be fine same with the JS.

Given the choice between a RG520 a Js100 and Jem555 mines the 520

Kids do want to have the guitar associated with their hero but a Jem 555 is still a very expensive guitar.
you could buy a DY RG and Jemify it which is cheaper

agreed Pablo, the stripped down version of the artist guitar should sacrafice looks over tone. *the 7, 77, and 777 models sacrafice neither, but if required, looks should go first.

On the topic of the "budget" signature guitars, I've never really thought of the JS700 in that bracket. I mean, it's not a high-end guitar, but it's totally different to any other Ibanez signature guitar and it really fills a different niche. I love the idea of a fast, comfortable guitar with cool retro tones.

I also think it's one of the most valid "signature" designs Ibanez came up with, because while you can eventually reduce most of their signature designs to an "upgraded" RG/Sabre/Radius/whatever, they never really made many soapbar-equipped guitars (I think there have been a Talman and a Ghostrider).

Just to keep on topic, I'll say that while the Double Edge is a fine achievement, and while the RG2027X is a sweet-looking guitar, I personally don't like piezo-equipped electrics. I prefer to keep my controls simple, because I'm a little bit backward.

That being said, I did try an RG2020 in a guitar shop and it sounded pretty good through a valve combo, about as good as I remember a Parker Fly sounding in the same situation. And if I did need to use piezo sounds in a live setting, I'd love to be able to grab a Double Edge for my favourite RG, rather than buy a completely different instrument for one or two songs.

If anyone has a piezo whammy AND a POD.

I find the best 'acoustic' sound is POD layer set to 1/4 treble middle and bass at max.

Played through a normal clean sound my 2027 dosen't sound too acousticy but wit this it does.

Pablo,

Try it thru the Jazz Chorus clean or just the tube-preamp.

Put a little bit of reverb on it and then just sit back and let yerself float out of your chair...

I agree it is a shame that Ibanez have chosen to stop producing the RG2027 7-string but at the end of the day Ibanez are running a business and if the model is not selling then it is not worth there while producing it.
What this scenario really shows is the need for an Ibanez Custom shop. Most other manufacturers have a Custom shop of some kind and Ibanez should follow. This would mean that specialist models like the RG2027 7-string would still be available.

ohh pleeeeease dont get my hopes up on a custom shop. I would seriously work every single day for months just to save up enough money to build me one...or a couple...or maybe 4 or 5. As of now I'm trying to customize everything myself but as an un-experienced 16 year old you can imagine they ain't comin out professional quailty.

Maybe the 2027 would have sold more if Wes/Head/Munky actually used it in public or in music videos. Since we talk of Ibanez relying on signature guitars now 'n days. The 2027 is an RG. It's not associated with anyone. I personally felt they didn't push for it enough. The only times I ever saw the RG2027 was on this site and once on the old Ibanez site. I've still NEVER seen one in person. When I read through guitar mags the only Ibanez AD's I see is for SDGR's, the AX 6 strings, or the plain RG7's. Maybe there is a bigger market for the 2027 just not enough people were able to see it.

It is very bad, but it is the reality.
We are from the ibanez generation, kids today not, they dont actually know how to appreciate this guitars like we do, they will buy an ibanez because it has an horrible KORN logo on the 12th fret.

What about the black 2027 on the Ibanez Japan site though? *Any chance of them selling that one in Europe? *(I want one, I want one, I want one, I want one, etc...)
It's new for 2001, so it should be available for a while, right?

Reality; Ibanez is not in the busness to build guitars, they are in the business to make money. End of Story.

* * I got a different opinion, i think i banez makes good quality cheap guitars, even if they are korea and have a trs, i mean, i don't many of us were given a $1000 plus guitar to learn on, or like me i had to go out and buy my rg220 after i sold my cheap yamaha acoustic to pay for it. and even now that i have a decent job, i can't go spending 1000 bucks plus for something i don't think is a major improvement, i *mean, the 2027 is worth the money, but when the 7620 was at 449 at AMS it could not be said that it wasn't a better deal, i even took the rg7 i bought off AMS after i changed the pickups and took it to a scam ash to test it against a 2027 because i thought i could have done better( major G.A.S here) but i realized that the special 5 switching was all i really needed cause the combo of PAF7 and TZ7 pickups was just awesome, eventhough the 2027 screams quality, the pickups are not good, it just wasn't worth it for me, but i still would buy one in a heartbeat if i had the cash.
