RG2027 - Should I... Shouldn't I...?

They are still for sale in the UK, as a special order, for around £1100-1200.
I would like a 7-string, and I like the idea of the piezo.

In a nutshell, would those folks who already have one ,or have played one extensively, do it again, and drop so much money on one of these guitars?

I have read the relevant forum threads and the general opinion is very positive, but hand on heart...are they worth it?

Thanks for your advice friends, and happy New Year.

Did you play mine at the fest ?

Unless Ibanez release a new UVMC it's the best 7 string you can buy with possible exception to the CST which is hard to come by.

Go and try a few 7 strings to see if you like 7 strings first since it is a lot of cash.

Be prepared to change the pickups though and if you want to have the mag and piezo out put at the same time you'll need to rewire it. <insert Kevans link here>

I like mine although I don't play it often.

I would recommend the 2027. Along with recommending swapping the pickups, and also doing the KJG wiring mod for both outputs at once.

HERE is a link to the wiring diagram for the KJG wiring mod.

Any question ask Kev or myself.

Without question, if I had it to do over, I'd buy my 2027. *They are really sweet axes. *The woods are beautiful, the craftsmanship is top notch, the Double Edge bridge sounds wonderful and functions flawlessly. *I don't believe there are many guitars out there for the price that compare to the 2027 in terms of beauty, playability, and versatility.

Except for maybe the 2127.

Do it.

I own a 2027 and a UV77MC. If I had to choose between the two? 2027 hands-down. A nice paint job is good. A souped-up engine under the hood is better. The KJG mod is the next best thing to Ibanez having done it right the first time.

You won't be disappointed...trust us. *I would wager that it becomes your main axe within three months of buying it. *It is so versatile, and it is just stunning to look at. *I bought mine as a backup to my UV and for some added tonal versatility....it is now my main player. *I just find myself picking it up much more than I do my UV. *We all can't be wrong, can we?

i waited when they came out, since i already had four 7 strings, and two of those mahogany 540S7s. *i picked up a 2027 this fall, used.

i'm very happy with it, even though i haven't used the piezo at all - i don't gig or need acoustic guitar simulation right now. *electric, it has a great snarly rocking tone, more raw and less metal compressed than my 7620s [my 2027 has dimarzios, Tone Zone and Air Norton]. *it's very smartly made and a joy to play.

so if you'd like a very classy 7 with a versatile sound, and the piezo in case you need that, go for it [and immediately upgrade the pickups].

Thanks for your advice folks.
My pal at the guitar is investigating whether he can still get one-if so I'm definitely having one.
It would be nice to have the acoustic sound for those 'sensitive' moments, and i want to experiment with a seven, so I hve no choice...!
