hi there its me again, ive just brought my Rg2027XVV (excellent guita) and i have a few questions :

Some other people on this site were talkinbg about fitting a sustainiac to this guitar , did any one do it ? there dont seem much room free in it.

Switch the pickups to blazeII's ... *They sound cool in the univers and are heavy... And if you don't like them dimarzio does an exchange policy, so you can try another one out if you don't like them! Sounds like the best idea to me...

good luck!

Be careful what you call the "Blazes". The UVs have the Blaze-II and the RG7s came with a different pickup... "new-blaze" as it was originally called (see Guitars|7string Specs). Most people like Blaze-IIs from what i've read here... glen

Go and get you some Blaze's man.
Trust me I bought one of the first 2027's befor I had even read anything on it. I changed the pickups out later and loved it. Its a real smooth tone as oposed to a RG7 with blaze's in it.

ive been to the dimarzio website and they have two blazes, the custom and the II. Which is the best one for me?

If it helps in my other seven string (ESP M207 - grately inferior to the ibanez) i have a bridge positiion SD Invader which i am happy about apart from the fact its a bit 'harsh', mids and bass are perfect

The BlazeII is the one in the universe, And I quite like those. The custom seems to be a higher output pickup than the blazeII but if I were you I'd get the pickups, play with them and if you are not happy with the sound from the bridge pickup to swap it for the custom, and so on. Just go through the ones they have untill you are happy. You can always change back. Try the normal BlazeII's first, and then chop and change untill you find what you like, that'd be my advice... Good luck!

Man! The bass on those pickups is way cool! Definition, the lot! I like a really heavy sound (very death metal, crowbar etc), and I am well happy with them! They sound better (in my opinion) than a downtuned 6 with EMG's in it.

also what do you guys use for the acoustic amplification ?

i am thinkning of building some cabs featuring a 1 x 18 and a tweeter (or two), to handle acoustic duties and effects returns, dbx sub harmonic sythn output, etc etc.

My thoughts for the acoustci setup are Tech21 Acoustic di to Matrix 600 watt per side power amp to l and R 400watt 18's with a tweeter and crossover (yet to decide)

Just wondered what everyone else used

i need a lot more bass end and low mids than the stock pickups, my SD Invader bridge pickup was perfect except for the harshness on the top end

IS the Blaze II up to this ?, or is there something better suited to my rewquirements
