rg2570

My rg2570 is less than 6 months old, I love this guitar, it sounds incredible with the stock DiMarzio/ibz pups. It plays beautifully from clean to metal, It's fast and the edge zero is great,,,, this guitar, no matter what I play, just does not go out of tune.
This is my first guitar without a pick guard. It's my first Ibanez, I have a Strat and a Les Paul,,,,,,, hadn't realized it before but while implementing certain techniques I tend anchor 2 or 3 fingers just below the middle pup. As a result the finish ( contoured vital silver ) is getting worn away. I've been playing this guitar for up to 8 to 12 hours aday. It really doesn't bother me, I look at it as proof that the guitar is being played alot, Sound is everything to me........ however, if the finish wearing away progresses it will start to look bad. and you know how it is, sometimes you gotta look good too. And I do take care of my equipment.
I think a black pickguard would look great on this guitar. I have not had time to do my research. but what are the possibilities?? I did some photo-shop editing and it looked pretty damn vicious with a black guard. any ideas or suggestions?

Re: rg2570

clear/acrylic pickguard can work... would prolly turn that axe into a 2570DX And while you're at it, chrome pups!

Re: rg2570

mine is wearing away there too, but it actually looks kinda cool after awhile, I had a problem with my awesome guitar's finish wearing. But then I realized it doesn't matter because it makes it my own, plus what is a guitar without some wear and tear?

Re: rg2570

What are you going to cover the arm contour with when that starts wearing?

Re: rg2570

and I can tell you that that arm contour does start getting wear too I also have a little wear on the bottom of the guitar but I think its where the Dimarzio strap rubs

Re: rg2570

Yeah a clear pickguard would be cool. Or like a reflective smoked mirror pickguard. That would be awesome.

Re: rg2570

Like Rich pointed out, you'll eventually wear out the paint on the arm contour as well. Can't put a pick guard on that. Think about repainting it? If you did that you could change the color if so desired & it would almost be like having a new guitar (if done right of course). To me that would be a fun project to do by one's self. Or if not handy or don't have the time, you could take it to a pro to repaint as well.

how do you even paint over texture? Do you paint normally and just not put a clearcoat on

Re: rg2570

i have the same guitar but mine is in dark space finish, i usually give the guitar and the strings a wipe down after playing it because acids in sweat can reduce the string life
