Good call. I think you chose a significantly better quality guitar.

Guy just paid over $900 for a genuine RG565 on auction. I paid $550 for mine new back in 1991. In 20 years, you think anybody's gonna be lined up to pay 80% more than the original retail for these guitars?

RG20th? Win. RG770DX reissue? Win. RG25th? Ugh.

I was watching a RG565 on there, i think it was blue with brightly colored pickups (thinking yellow or pink)? I stopped watching it after it was like $550. No way I would pay that much for a RG565!

I always liked the cubed black look, plus i like the edge pro trem (i have it on my rg1560)...plus i got it for 549 with case so i can't complain, just have to wait for it to arrive now.....

Re: RG2XXV quality?

Why people are paying $699 and up for Indonesian guitars when they can do what you did and spend under $600 for a used or NOS MIJ Prestige is beyond me. I guess if you gotta have neon THAT bad, then more power to you. If I get hungry for neon, I'll pick up my daughter's refinished neon pink RG560. Guarantee it plays better than anything currently coming out of Indonesia, and it's 20 years old.

And for what it's worth, I WOULD pay $900 for a mint RG565 any day. Hell, I'd pay double that for an honest-to-god, brand new, MIJ reissue. But no, Ibanez is happy to poop out Indo "replicas" for $699. Frustrating.

I have to agree with you although I think the 1xxv was close to hitting the mark.

I think that if the world economy (especially the yen) was in better shape, we'd have seen a LOT better 25th release. I wish I had a bug in the room when Hoshino was discussing what to do for the 25th. I'm sure some of the suggestions would have made us VERY happy.............

It's a shame that the 25th is going to be remembered as the "Value" anniversary model.

Re: RG2XXV quality?

I would have no problem paying $899 for a RG565 re-issue (new).

I am soo hoping we get the maple board premium RG920 that came out earlier this year in Europe this NAMM.....

That probably won't happen. I think we got lucky with the RG20s being around $1,000. I bet a reissue RG565 would be at LEAST $1500-$2000.

Re: RG2XXV quality?

If you like the neck and are capable of doing your own setups, pup swaps, and fret dressing it is a decent deal at $299.99 new on that site named after the big river in Brazil. If not, I would go walk on by. It took me a bit of work to get it as comfy as my other Ibby 6's.

I bought a new neon yellow RG2xxv a couple days ago. This is the second Ibanez that I have gotten in 2 years that the neck is warped. I have an EX model from 94' that my new on can not touch as far as quality. You are correct MetalHead52 ! What has happened to Ibanez's quality in recent years??? I think next time i'll look at buying a Schecter, ESP or Dean.

thanks

The RG350s are nice guitars (I have EXZ). However, if you wanna bring up the Dimarzio pups aspect, I'd say get a 350 or 450 and put in Dimarzios yourself. It'll be around same quality but with nicer pups. I put Dimarzio evos in mine (got them on sale through guitar center's website) so the total cost of my EXZ (including pups and charge for installing pups) was around 600 USD. I did do it over here in japan so maybe the pup installation might have been cheaper than the US but I dont know. Either way, I have a cheap axe that can overpower my friend's RG1XXV

RG770DX? Is that the same reissue as the FM? I found a used FM recently, REALLY considering getting it.
