RG320 sustains better than RG1570?

I was playing on my 320 for a little while while waiting to get strings for my prestige. Yesterday I put new slinkys on the 1570 and even with new strings it doesnt sustain better than the mahogany 320. And I mean acoustically as well as plugged in. Both are stock pickups PWSNDS and V's. Is this normal? Action is a little lower on the 1570 but I can't see this contributing much.

Could it be the slinkys? I don't remember whats on the other guitar. I know the mahogany of the 320 probably helps a little.

If you get 10 identical RG1570s and 10 identical RG320s, each will have their own unique amount of sustain. The wood and the neck joint on the RG320 might just be that perfect, elusive combination to get that much sustain.

Different woods, hardware, neck profile/ thickness. there are a lot of factors and variables at work here.

Re: RG320 sustains better than RG1570?

Yeah this is all true its just a little dissapointing in a way. Its a barely noticeable difference but I definitely noticed it after playing the other for a few days. Are EB slinkys good tone strings? And its probably far fetched but I'm thinking... how high should the single coil be set? Because its just about as high as the bridge humbucker which is maybe 2 mm from the strings.
