RG320FM looks pretty good...

Ive been in the market for a new guitar and this one really caught my eye. I love the flamed maple top with the amber finish. I played the guitar at guitar center the other day and I love the action and the neck. But, I didnt get to use the trem because the bar wasnt on the floor model. So, I have some questions about the trem. Does the Edge Pro II bridge have the same capabilities that a floyd rose would? Can it be used for dive bombs as well as pulling up (assuming I set it up fully floating)? If you have any info about the Edge Pro II trem (or the RG320FM in general) that would be great. Thanks!

To answer your questions in order asked . . .

Yes and yes.

One addition . . .

The Edge IIs don't 'flutter' well at all, they are very stiff feeling too.

BUT, they do hold tune pretty well and have a good tone.

I wouldn't trade a 'real' Edge for one, but I wouldn't tell anyone not to buy a guitar based on just the Edge II either. :-)

I have an amber one. It is really nice, but has a definite Korean feel to it. I just bought a RG1570RB and it plays tons better than the 320FM. The best thing I like about it is the looks! They really went all out with the cosmetics.. but the cosmo is fading on the trem and knobs already, and it is merely a year old. I am trying to sell the one I have now so I can pay the 1570 off quicker. If you were looking to buy one, get one used... if not, pay a bit extra and get something in the Japanese made realm... that is just my opinion.

Oh, and the II is very reliable, but like said above, without the flutter. I hope this helps!

I like the RG320FM because of the flamed top. When I played it, I thought it was great. I also tried other Ibanez guitars including ones way out of my price range, and the 320 felt just as good as the pricey models. The 1570, as well as other higher end Ibanez models, sport a hefty price tag, which I can't even begin to afford. The 320 is very reasonably priced, which is another plus. I just love flamed tops and I don't want an RG thats just a plain color. So basically, I like the pricetag, the flamed top, and most importantly: the feel of the 320. I just can't look into any guitars over $500 right now and the 320 fits my taste and pricerange. The only thing I don't know is how the trem is because the arm wasn't in the floor model at guitar center so I couldnt try it. But, the RG320FM is looking like my next purchase at this point.

Im willing to bet since the dimensions are almost identical the main issue you guys are having with your flutter on this trem are the springs. I would suggest doing a trade out and doing richs stud mod to get maximum tuning stability. I would add the qualiy of the pickups in that guitar are subpar but they do work in basically all situations.
