Rg350dx

Hello, my friend wishes to buy an RG350DX. He has a fairly low budget (under $500). He doesn't want to buy used though.

Is an RG350DX a good choice?

Also, can you retrofit an original Floyd on these?

Re: Rg350dx

Why doesn't he want to buy used? That's being stubborn, imo. You can get used guitars which are better off than some guitars in a store... He'd be getting a much better quality guitar for the same amount of money. The upgrade from a 350 to a 550 is huge.

I have both guitars, the 350 is from 04 I think and the 550 is from the 90s sometime, the 550 is miles ahead of the 350. I like both, but if I had the 550 first, I wouldn't have bought the 350.

What torque says is true BTW the 350 is a great guitar the pups isn't bad too , in my opinion no need to change the edge3 trem, if setup properly it's a very good trem

Re: Rg350dx

As stated above, the used market is a better for-your-money deal, but if your friend's gonna be stubborn, then still the 350 isn't a bad purchase. I have one that I put some new pups in because the INF ones that it came with just didn't cut it after a while and it sounds great. Tremwise, the Edge III isn't terrible, and its definetally a step up from the TRS but don't expect to do any heavy trem work with it. I treat mine like a strat trem and it holds tune fine.

Ok I have RG370DX (the pickguard-less of RG350DX). Love it. I put a DiMarzio Paf Pro (neck) neck and Seymour Duncan JB (bridge) and it sounds great. It plays great as I feel very comfortable with the Wizard Neck. To put it simply, it is cheap and good. Sound, Playability and Appearance wise. Definitely an 8/10.

My first "+1"! I have the same guitar with stock pups and I love it! The neck feels fast and smooth, comparable to my old 550s (although it's been 7 years since I had one) and the pups sound pretty good to my ears. I think it was well worth the $320 I paid for it in 2004.

i got the 350dx 2005 or 6 model cant remember, but they changed some stuff, im having a few problems with it, mostly the open E string starts off out of tune and goes back into tune, I think its an intonation or cheap part problem.

The great thing about this guitar is it looks very nice. A guy on here modded it with blue pickups and look sweet, this is a very flexable guitar. I recommend it before any cheap epiphone sg or squire fender.
Plus inf4 squels like a pig, like those 80 squels.

Be prepared to change the cable input after about a month, its super cheap, my middle pickup dont go all the way down, the screws start comin out, but i might stick a midi pickup there instead. Im going to change the whole lockin system to. Its a cheap 15$ one, im getting the real $50 one.

Ive read stories about it having a cheap paint job, but i think its fantastic

Re: Rg350dx

Theres mine, So far I have only swapped the Tremolo (it is now an Ibanez Lo-Pro), and as you can see it fits dead on with no modification, accept for the new studs I put in as well. For future mods I'm buying a mirror blue pickguard with a vine, and DiMarzio Evolutions with mirror blue covers as well. I'm also looking into putting in black light LED's in the neck, but that wont be for a while ($$$).

Re: Rg350dx

Yea it was done, it took a bit, but its done. That was the first time I had ever done intonation (Edge III was already set up), and I hated it. I don't think its 100%, but its good enough for me, and when I change the strings again which will probobly be this week, I will go over it all again.

Re: Rg350dx

You make lots of guestimates, it's lots of fun! De-tuning strings, adjusting the saddle, tuning back up. Checking again, repeat until you get it or give up because it's close enough!
