Rg350DX MORE QUESTIONS

Ok Besides the Pickups and trem system electronics, and machine heads, is the RG350dx a good guitar.
I plan on putting all my Jem 555 parts on the Rg350Dx, or the neck on the Jem 555.

What im gettin at here is, How is the playabily on the Rg350. Action, fret buzz Intonation...... Im not lookin for people who have been playin for 2-4 years answers....

[QUOTE=eatsleepplayguitar]"Ok Besides the Pickups and trem system electronics, and machine heads, is the RG350dx a good guitar ?........ "

ummm, besides these parts, an RG350DX is two bits of wood bolted together......

They seem to be of wildly varying quality, especially in terms of setup (obviously not an issue for you) - there's nothing violently wrong with the machine heads - if you are using a locking nut they are pretty much irrelevant anyway - I have played about ten of them in varying shops around here, and my observations would be : poorly/badly set up ; neck finish is ickky, and needs application of light (1200 grade) emery paper and gun oil or similar ; trem seems stiff and odd, but probably a good platform to mutate if you don't care about the value of the guitar - pickups definitely a bit harsh.

Depending upon what your aim is, I'd seriously do your sums based on the value of an RG350DX and the cost of all the new bits you want to add, then weigh that up against buying, say, a DBK, or some other JEM which won't cost you gazillions of dollars - last time I looked, the newest and best Floyd Rose (the, um speedloader?) was about $260US - whoa!!! that's about $600 Aussie dollars by the time we pay import duty, GST, for the ineptitude of our government to keep our dollar up etc etc - I could just about BUY an RG350 for that!!! - and I can get a very nice PBK for $1400AUD from Tim, if I hadn't assaulted the piggy bank for other JEMs lately!

Re: Rg350DX MORE QUESTIONS

The 350Dx is a shredding machine, I have been playing guitar for over 15 years and own a 350DX. All Ibanez guitars are good, you just have to set em up right. I have learned how to set up guitars so that I can even make a piece of **** sound bad ass. If you get a 350dx you will just have to tweak on it and definitely put some good pickups in it. I have an rg 220 that will kick someones ass right now.

Re: Rg350DX MORE QUESTIONS

Why would you change the neck on the JEM555 to the neck on an RG350? They both have Wizard II necks of identical dimensions and the only difference would be the sharktooth inlays verses the little crappy vine. If you're going to be really picky about the guitar anyway, then I would say not to waste money on either and just get a used Prestige Ibanez guitar or one of those RG550/570s that everyone on this site loves so much.

Re: Rg350DX MORE QUESTIONS

there is only 1 single thing I dont like about my rg350dx,and that is the edge III, when I get a chance Im going to put a gotoh floyd rose into the guitar and then its going to be a killer guitar (of coarse then there's the sustainer im going to put in it, but thats later as well)

btw does anybody happen to know the fretboard radius of a wizard II in imperial? I have only seen metric and i just dont want to do that math!

Re: Rg350DX MORE QUESTIONS

Cheers, goth. I was just afraid that if you had someone make you a new fretboard and you said 16", it would feel like nothing on earth.

Re: Rg350DX MORE QUESTIONS
