Re: Rg350DX MORE QUESTIONS
[QUOTE=eatsleepplayguitar]"Ok Besides the Pickups and trem system electronics, and machine heads, is the RG350dx a good guitar ?........ "
ummm, besides these parts, an RG350DX is two bits of wood bolted together......
They seem to be of wildly varying quality, especially in terms of setup (obviously not an issue for you) - there's nothing violently wrong with the machine heads - if you are using a locking nut they are pretty much irrelevant anyway - I have played about ten of them in varying shops around here, and my observations would be : poorly/badly set up ; neck finish is ickky, and needs application of light (1200 grade) emery paper and gun oil or similar ; trem seems stiff and odd, but probably a good platform to mutate if you don't care about the value of the guitar - pickups definitely a bit harsh.
Depending upon what your aim is, I'd seriously do your sums based on the value of an RG350DX and the cost of all the new bits you want to add, then weigh that up against buying, say, a DBK, or some other JEM which won't cost you gazillions of dollars - last time I looked, the newest and best Floyd Rose (the, um speedloader?) was about $260US - whoa!!! that's about $600 Aussie dollars by the time we pay import duty, GST, for the ineptitude of our government to keep our dollar up etc etc - I could just about BUY an RG350 for that!!! - and I can get a very nice PBK for $1400AUD from Tim, if I hadn't assaulted the piggy bank for other JEMs lately!
