Are there any hard tail RG 5** guitars available?

Or is the RG 4** the only hard tail available? *

Are the RG4** hardtails Japanese made or Korean?

I'm not extremely knowledgeable in this subject... I've often wondered this myself, although I'd prefer a wilkinsen trem w/locking tuners.

Anyway, my point... there was an RG521 on ebay a few days ago, I'm not sure if the auction is still active. *Check in the Buy/Sell area for a link. *This RG521 was totally different than an RG520 so it could've been a mislabled auction for all I know.

There's a new RG421 model coming over from Japan. They are starting to blur the lines on what #'s are Japanes and Korean.

if you're looking for a hard tail, does it really matter if it's a 4xx or a 5xx? *the main difference is the Edge trem, which wouldn't be an issue here. *the only other difference is where it's made. *that you can cover by going to a store and playing one, to see if the quality is ok. * *

The Japanese market had the RG581. It's a hardtail RG570 basically. I don't see advertised in Japan for 2001.
Maggio Music had what they called an RG521 on ebay recently. It looked like an RG520 with a hardtail instead of an Edge trem. I have pics of that. I have pics of the Japanese RG581, too. I know where one other RG hardtail is. It looks like a hardtail RG520, two *humbuckers & a five-way switch. These hardtail "RG520"s don't share the same model numbers. Wonder if the shops just copped some "one off" stuff?

Shredhead, RG4/5 - it makes a big difference. *The RG5** that were offered in 2000 all came with Wizard necks. *The RG4**, 3**, 2** and 1** came with Wizard II necks.

I don't completely subscribe to the Korean vs. Japanese argument, but that's only because I have never WANTED to play (nor have I ever played) anything other than what I have been using, which has always been RG5** or better (better meaning higer model number, not higher quality.)

Not to mention you only get a flushmount input jack with the 5xx and up.
