Rg470 Body

I bought a used MIJ rg470. Now I'm in painting process. When I detached neck, I saw the neck is rg570's wizard neck. (RG-570R#2) So I mean someone swapped the neck. Serial on the neck is F97xxx* and its japan. And on the body letters are ARG-RG470. By the way there is Lo Trs bridge (not Lo Trs II) on the body.

Ok neck provides product date as 1997 but in this case I cant find any infos about body. Because body and neck is in different dates. Obviously I cant wait you say exactly body product date. But maybe you can say that this body MIJ or?

I put some photos. (sorry for bad camera) What do you think about this body? Especially at first picture, there is no tremolo plate's little space at edges for plate fits to surface as flat. (1 in picture) And cavity's shape for electrical equipment is different from most rg body.

Can you help me?

Re: Rg470 Body

It's a wizard 2, not an original wizard. I have an MIJ 470L, and mine is stamped the same thing. From my research, it's RG570 R(rosewood) #2(wizard 2 profile). 95/96 570's were equipped with wizard 2's, and I think when they switched to the bubinga striped super wizard for the 570 in 97, they used the surplus on the 470.

What's weird to me is that there aren't any countered routes for the plates. Mine has the extra plate routes on it, and it's 1998.

EDIT: Here's a picture of the back of mine. It's also awaiting a paintjob.

Re: Rg470 Body

Hımmmmm, my neck is exactly same this :

I couldnt add link but in e bay.com, 280439734017 item.

Is this wizard II?

And last question : What differents are between wizard and wizard II (japon) as measures. I saw only 1 mm thickness at fret1 and 0.5mm at fret12. Other all specs seem same. Is it true? I'm asking because I really dont know this necks.

Thickness, mm Width, mm
Neck Type Scale Fret1 Fret12 Nut Fret22 Radius
Wizard 25.5" 17.0 20.0 43.0 56.0 430
Wizard II (Japan) 25.5" 18.0 20.5 43.0 56.0 430

(measures infos source : http://www.jemsite.com/jem/necks.htm )

Thanks.

Re: Rg470 Body

Yeah, that should be a US spec MIJ wizard 2 on ****. I saw that measurement chart, as well, and I measured the thickness of my neck at the 1st and 12th frets with a micro caliper and it came out to approximately 18.75/20.8. A friends Korean made wizard 2 came out to 19.5 to 21.5.

I think the wizard 2 (Japan) measurements are for the Japanese market wizard 2's that came on the rg580/680.

Wizard is flatter overall, like a thin D shape, and wizard 2 are just slightly rounder over all, like a flattened C shape.

Re: Rg470 Body

These details sooo helped me. I really appreciate all the help you've given me. I played my friend's rg370dx MIK. I think that is wizard II too. But I found it as horrible thick and uncomfortable. Not little difference. For me, very big difference. Is it normal?

Re: Rg470 Body

Not a problem! I don't know a lot, but I try to help when I can.

RG370 is wizard 2. That little difference feels like a huge change when you're playing the guitar.
