HI All, new to this site so hello everyone first. Anyhoos I picked up a second hand what I was told an RG550, it has serial F0225779 on the back of the headstock along with made in japan. I checked out and the serial is genuine though i cant find any info on what model it should be.

The problem is ive been through the catolougs for 2002 and it just dont ad up, it has a rosewood neck for a start, when all the 550's had maple, and it has a lo pro edge when they had edge trems acording to ibby wikki. can anyone tell me if this is what i was told it was or is it made up of bits n bobs? it has V7,S1,V8 pups, and what i think is either an wizard or super wizard neck but i dontreally know. Remove the neck, most of them will be stamped both on the neck and in the neck pocket with the model number.

The RG550ex models would fit that description. Is the guitar silver or black???

Its black i just had a look at the neck it says RG550 R # 2 on teh neck and 0LTD on the body in the neck cavity, so do yopu think this was agood buy, its in need of some defo TLC, a few dents, hardware is needs cleaning, pups dont look the best , I paid £150, os that an ok rate for something like this?

£150 is probably as cheap as you will ever find an RG550 in the UK. Without seeing the guitar I'd say you got a great deal for sure. I'd say she's an RG550EX model. Do a Google image search for that model and see if it matches your guitar.
