Thumbs up RG550 20th Inlay

I just don't see anything in the pictures.

Would it be nice if there was some sort of inlay on the fretboard that had "20th" on it? Or say 20th somewhere on the guitar? Something to distinguish it.

Or would that not be popular?

I got one on order

Re: RG550 20th Inlay

One small difference between the 1987 originals and the 2007 Anniversary models is a special 20th Anniversary control cavity plate.

Each of the three lists for $1199.99, which includes a matching finish case, matching finish strap and even 20 Anniversary picks. The RG550XX will be limited to 1987 pcs worldwide, with approximately 1200 of those (400 each of the three finishes) destined for the U.S.

Re: RG550 20th Inlay

They have the serial number on the neck plate, apparently. Maybe there's some kind of "RG 20th" logo on there too? I dunno, but regarding an inlay or something, my understanding is that Ibanez wanted this guitar to look identical to the original. With a fretboard inlay, it'd be instantly distinguishable from the original. I'm not sure what's better; an exact replica or an almost exact replica with improvements such as the AANJ. I would have been happy either way, come to think of it. I'm just glad to see our beloved RG550 again, Tilt neck joint and all.

Re: RG550 20th Inlay

I really want one as I used to have a RFR. Regret selling it. Tried to buy it back but the guy I sold it to had already sold it. I just don't know if I can justify the price of a new one. That's more than I paid for my JEM7DBK.

Re: RG550 20th Inlay

List price <> street price. It was mentioned here, several times, that the street price would be around 850$ or so.
Correct me if I'm wrong. (Praise me if I'm right )

Re: RG550 20th Inlay

$899 is still way too much. $699 I could see. I know, wishful thinking.

With the exchange rate, $899 is WAAAAAY less than we're paying here in the UK. You're getting a great deal in the US.

Hell, if any would even reach Israel I can assure you that we'll pay for it the price of a brand new 7VWH.

Which is almost the price of a swirled UV/Jem on the bay. I hate this country.

20th inlay on the 20th fret? Yeah, that would be nice...

Wine inlay would be nice. I like the scent of a good red one.

I'm sure having one makes sense to the company, but for the consumer in the US, the list price amounts to pretty much an artificial figure used to simulate savings. For instance, cheap guitar X always sells for $199 but the list price might be $399 so Guitar Center can have their ads where they're like, "OMG!!111!!!1! Get guitar X for 50% off!!! Don't miss this or you'll hang yourself!! Blah Blah Blah!!!" You'll never ever see it for $399 but you'll think you're getting a deal if it's $199 if you don't know better.
