No, you don't for the neck.

Not required, but either will work just fine.

It doesn't really matter if you have an f-spaced neck pickup or not. It really doesn't matter if the bridge is f-spaced either; I've put non- f-spaced pickups in bridge also. It's more of a cosmetic thing.

Re: RG550 Neck Pickup f-spaced?

Get the f-spaced pickup. Although minimal, there is a difference. For one, the poles of the pickups will lie directly beneath the strings.

Re: RG550 Neck Pickup f-spaced?

Go for F-spaced on both pickups. The polepieces get perfect alignment with the strings.

Re: RG550 Neck Pickup f-spaced?

F-spaced for bridge pickup, non-F-spaced for neck. This is how it's done.

I'd go with red pickups, knobs & switch tip. Pink is an obvious, common choice.

It is. My previous post is definitive. Trust me, I've been messing with RG's since 87.

Re: RG550 Neck Pickup f-spaced?

I thought that a f-spaced neck pup is better for guitars with 43mm nuts and guitars with 42mm nuts should use regular spaced pups
but it makes no difference

Re: RG550 Neck Pickup f-spaced?

If the bridge is spaced for a Floyd string spacing (which, on an RG, it is), the neck wouldn't be because the strings are closer together at the neck position, hence: non F-spaced for the neck pickup.

Bridge string spacing: 54mm
Neck string spacing: 50mm
