Didn't know there was an RG548. Do you mean the RGT42?

just did a search on the internet (great tool) the only difference i can see is that the 548 has an Ash body and a wizard II neck, 550 is basswood with super wizard neck.

Not to get too off topic, but I'd love to have an ash body on my 550.

Re: RG550 VS. RG548

hey guys im preety new to the rg seris as i have bought a 548 and it rocks!!
whats the layout of the 550. the 548 is: v8 in the bridge, v7 in the neck and a single coil in the middle s1. it has the edge system, with the awkward snap in trem arm as it is prone to becomin loose!! which sucks!! the body is ash and the neck is maple!! mine has GOTOH tuners. does anyone else have one!! i would like to talk to them bout it!!
can barely find any info on it!! it must be farely rare or maybe unpopular which is stupid because it is a great guitar with the exception of the stock pickups..... but a dimarzio will sort that out...........

Re: RG550 VS. RG548

The only differences I know of is the body (548 is ash, 550 is basswood) and the neck (548 is Wizard II, 550 is the thinner Wizard profile). I assume since it's a 500 series, it's MIJ.

I don't care for the Wizard II neck profile. Other than that, I'd be interested to get my hands on one just to try it out.
