RG550EX - In Silversand

Ok, Iīve got myself a GREAT deal on a guitar...
Itīs a RG550EX(Yes, the RG with a Lo-Pro!!)
Itīs only ONE year old but I can get it for $550 while it costs $1100 new here!!
But what do you think about the Silversand finish, I think itīs pretty cool...Iīve seen some nicer finishes but itīs awesome anyways....

My wallet wonīt be ready for a JEM this year, and maybe Iīm neither.... what do you think about this guitar?

RG550's come with Lo-Pro's anyway, don't they? The current pic on their website has a Lo-Pro & my early '90's RG550's have Lo-Pro's.

As far as I know the EX is just a replacement for the designation DX not sure why or how, I might give HEadstock a call to see if they can shed some light on the matter.

Yes, ONLY EX models has the Lo-Pro.
I got 2 new good news about the guitar: 1. Itīs bought directly from the Swedish Distributors, which means it hasnīt been played by a million people 2. It has recently been setup.
He havent even mentioned any chips, dings!! Of course it probably has some, but he seems to have many guitars and was not playing this one to often, and itīs one year old......

I have a 550 DY reissue and it's one of my favourite guitars... I play it almost as much (hell, maybe as much, come to think of it) as my Jems and I have NOTHING negative to say about it! A GOOD RG550 is a whole lot of guitar for the money, but I think you lose in the quality assurance/hand finishing when you step down from a Jem, so I hesitate to say "Buy It!" unless you've actually played it! Still, if you trust the seller, go ahead - you can always sell it for what you paid if you're not happy with it, and it looks cool as heck!

I still know it will be better than a JEM 555! If I swap the pickups the neck will be the only difference, since itīs a Super Wizard, but thatīs OK BY ME! How are fretaccess on those??? Not as good as on a JEM huh? I guess itīll be better than on my current cheapo Strat copy...

I thought 550s usually had maple boards? *No matter...cool guitar at a reasonable price. *I like the "silver sand" with matching headstock.

Yeah, 550s has maple boards but this is the 550EX which has a rosewood board, matching headstock and a Lo-Pro.

Upon a second look, you're right. I guess I'm lucky both my early '90's RG550's have the lo pro's but of course I don't have the AANJ.
